opinion on spark plug gap??
opinion on spark plug gap??
im in the middle of doing a tune up on my car i was told to gap the plugs at .042 i have stage 2 i was just gonna use the stock gap i have ngk g power plugs what do you guys recommend for a gap?
i gapped mine at .038 and it ran ok but after a while i needed new plugs anyway cuz i use the copper autolites. when i got new pugs i gapped them at .032 and it runs much much better now
your buddy is right that the stock gap is .042, however when you upgrade your pulley you want a smaller gap. i am complete stock and gapped mine at .035. and it runs fine no missfires as of yet, gonna change em in about 800 miles tho with my oil. i think .038 is a good safe number.
I believe misfires come from a larger gap, too much fuel and no spark occurs. Smaller gap less likley for a misfire but the spark is not as large so not all the fuel will be burned and your leaving behind some power. Gotta find a happy medium for your car.
.038 seems to be good for me.....
