OTTP Stage 1
OTTP Stage 1
Hello,
I recently got 60# injectors and a harness and I ordered a 2.8" pulley from Nate at Smoothflow. I was considering getting the OTT stage 1 tune and I had a few questions for everyone tunning OTTP Stage 1.
Will it out-perform GM stage 2?
Will I have a bouncy idle?
How bad is your fuel economy?
Please leave your feedback on their Stage 1 kit, because I want to know if it is worth me getting a their canned tune or not.

idle = smooth as a baby's butt.
I'm out-running GM Stage 3 cobalts (barely). Granted, you have a lot more work to do to your car to run ottp's stage kit, but it's very much worth it.
And as for fuel economy, well I'm averaging 26-30 mpg's depending on how often i drive on the freeway. When I was Stage 2 from GM, I would average 23 mpg's at most. Then again, this one is a lot trickier to discuss cause there's a lot of factors that affect it. But if the only factors are the stage kit, then there shouldn't be a big difference if any at all.
And it's not a "canned tune". They give you a tune that's specific to your vehicle and what mods you have on it. If you have any questions about the stage kit, just talk to the guys. They're really cool and don't mind clearing up any misconceptions about their products.

I already have GM stage 2, so really all I NEED is a 2.8 pulley, 60# injector, and a harness. I wouldn't NEED anything else would I? Dual Pass and a bigger H/E are obviously helpful too.
Anyone else have an OTT stage 1 kit and want to throw in their 2 cents?
What mods do you have right now?
If you have the GM Stage 2 then you're going to need the entire OTT Stage 1 Kit as it comes with a different pulley, bigger injectors etc. than you already have. So you wouldn't just need their tune, though if you wanted to keep your lil 42's and drop pulleys I'm sure they would tune your car for you..

That doesn't do me any good, why don't your recommend OTT and what would you recommend?

There are no better options out there for the price. I believe the stage 1 kit is down to $340 now-a-days. Only things making more power (that i'm aware of) are turbo kits and the TVS...both of which are well over $1,000. If you are not worried about price then by all means get a turbo or TVS
It's HIGHLY recommended that you go with a bigger h/e too. Dual pass is also well recommended. So i would say that yes, you do NEED those as well. To my understanding, the m62 has a lot of problems with heat soak when you put any pulley smaller than 3", so any cooling mod you can bolt on will help.
The only thing you don't NEED, that could help would be a clutch, or meth, or stu's mod.
I see you in everyone of these threads saying don't buy ott. I know who you are from the redline forums, and I'm pretty sure you have never bought from us. Whats better...the gms3? Lets hear your reasoning
Ive been running the OTT tune for since October. My car has put a few buses on GM Stage 2 cars. I only have 2.8, 60's, and their tune nothing else. I have proof if people witnessing all my runs too. Please don't talk **** on something you don't know. Other options really aren't out there for a canned tune that runs this good. And Im not nutswinging either. I just know the tune worked out great. I put a car on a custom tune from Trifecta with same pulley size and 60's, intake, heat exchanger, and catless downpipe...

I just dont like canned tunes. There is nothing wrong with ott stage 1, I was just going to say if you have someone local that tunes lsj's that would be your best bet.
Im in sales LOL. AT&T. And they can send you a PCM out and you send yours into them. Its a deposit needed to put down. Basically, trading PCM's. Talk to Fast98 about it. I was the needy customer that had a few problems, and actually helped me instead of ignoring.

I went the same route as you and had the 2.8 and 60s so I ordered their tune. I'm gonna flash it in when I get back from maryland this week so I will let you know how I like it.

I have the ottp stage one and i tell you what man, i raced my buddys srt 4 and beat him by a car lengths at least. The kit is amazing for the price they sell it for the tune is really good and makes your car fast as hell. They have great tunes for your cars depending on what stuff you have done to it. If you go with their tune you will be happy, Or, you can get a custom tune from some tuner in your area, they are both good ideas one will just be more specific on your car than the other.
