over heating

my car usually sits weeks at a time. i have a motorcycle i ride to work everyday.
so i decided to take the car to work. i get about 40 miles from my house almost half way to work and i look down at the temp and it says 230 and is climbing. i pull off the side of the road and check the fluids. all the fluids r all at the right levels. i call AAA and get it towed home. i get off work and change the thermostat and fire the car up it still is over heatin..so after talkin with mrb about it i order the water pump tool to change the water pump.

I get the tool and pull the cover off and put the tool on the water pump sprocket..WICH IS A BITCH by the way. so i grab a 10 mm wrench to tighten the bolts and i turned the water pump..i thought to my self i must have broken the chain. so i pull the timing cover off an i find that the chain had jumped off the crank sprocket between the block and the sprocket..i start looking around to make sure the guids r all ok..i find that the bolt had snapped off of my NB shaft on the intake side...

so the plan now is to go with a electric water pump setup..i already ordered the parts to do it..
and leave the chain off the water pump and balance shafts...free up some HP baby.

i think me being on e85 and my tune is wat saved my engine.

has anyone ran a electric water pump set up yet??? besides ZZP lol

hmmmm, I don't know if anyone on here has, I've looked into it before, I like the idea, if I did it, I"d run either a timer on it so when you shut off the car, it will still run for 5 10 or however long you want, or a temp switch to do the same, I have my fans wired up on my truck to the computer so when I turn off the truck, they run for a couple mines, now if I had an electric water pump, I think that be great cause than the water is still circulating to help cool the engine more.

only thing I've heard about them years ago is they wear out faster, but I asked how long can you expect one to last, months or years, and someone said he had one and it failed 3 years later. well honestly, I think 3 years isn't that bad, it was just the electric motor the guy said went out, pulled it out, got a new one for 40 bucks, and she was good again.

and also on the ecotec, only one timing chain, ****, I think we have a winner here,

well then i will be the first...i have the pump and all that...i think i could use a cheap turbo timer and wire it to the pump that way...my keeping the water moving while the car is off would be sick...

i know the way Im doin it will be fairly cheap also effective..

look at a relay setup, I'd say wire it into your fans, but your fans go on and off, and you'd want the pump on all the time, but I know in hp tuners you can change when your fans turn on, maybe you can set it up to were one fan is on all the time and runs for 5 mins after you shut off the car.

but the turbo timer is a good idea too,

ya hpt won't turn the fans on till 195* and the pcm is programmed to shut the fans off over 30 mph i think..so for now ill just hook it to a switch after the ignition switch.

yeah, that would work, and I'd do it too, another way I've thought about doing it, is to a switched power source, so when you turn the car on, its on, and than do a switch to be able to flip it on after you shut it off for a bit, but than you have that chance of forgetting it after you leave your car, lol

I like the idea of electric water pump. How much hp you think it would free up?

Im hoping the m90 will end up being between the tvs a M62...ill have less than 500$ in it...
the m90 is a 1.5L displacement sc....it is bigger than the tvs so i think there will be a chance it could be equal to the tvs..the details have been hush hush...
