Then 2 weeks ago, it stalled twice on me, once while idling in a drivethru and the other time while idling at a red light.

When I went for the tune, they found my car to be off the charts rich, as my a/f ratio took a swan dive at 3000 rpms off the chart never to be seen again through the rest of the gear, had to be at least below 9:1. Jeremy, of Race Related, fixed it all up and now it runs like a champ, all previous issues have disapeared.
sounds like the technicians might not have actually tuned your car for stage 2, or did not properly flash it.

The proper tuning for stage 2 is actually lean, and people who complain of your problems usually don't get a successful flash from the dealer.

Great power and better gas mileage (if I keep my foot out of it).

The car should feel choppy until 4800 rpms with the stage tunes, because they delay enrichment until 4800 rpms, meaning your car doesn't properly richen up until after those rpms.

no ... if your version is not the green it needs to be reflashed. the red simply shows an older tune and can be different depending on when the original was done

the code it fixes is a false lean/lean code that WONT show up as a CEL so they dont know what they are talking about. The only way the cel would ever come on is under specific driving conditions within a certain period of time and it has to happen twice within the same on cycle.

I know bro and tried to explain that to them. They said no code. No Reflash.

It is times like these i just wished i would have bought something else. The bog/hesitation between 1,2 is killing me....

After arguing with the service manager, district service manager, and GM customer service I still do not have the re-tune. I was told by all of them that this is an accessory and without a CEL it would cost me the $88. I was then told that the warranty with the Stage II does not work the same as the bumper-to-bumper, but they would not explain to me what the difference is. I will have to try another dealer I guess, or wit for something else to happen where it thows a code.

like i said you can in fact be charged for it so don't argue too much about it and keep things civil so it doesn't get outa hand

I went in with the pics and the document number. They went on their GM site, pulled up the service campaign on it and did it. It was the best I have ever been treated at any GM dealership. They also said they like to see upgraded cars and they don't think that other dealers should be pulling the crap they are pulling.

Anyway, on a side note, the car seems 100% happier with this reprogram!!

i went to the dealer and they say that a new flash will not fix anything if there is nothing wrong in the tech 2. they did make me an appontment for monday and said it will take about 45 minutes.
I asked about making sure I get the right flash for stage 2 and they said they do not control anything, GM's computer does based on the vin# when it gets plugged in, is this true?

That is true, the computer takes your setup, then compares it to the new one, then downloads the new configuration.

Well... after comparing the stage 2 tune to the updated Stage 2tune there are only 3 differences and none of them will effect power. This will solve the erratic idle and CEL light when you go past 10,000hz on your maf sensor and set off the CEL for high maf frequency.

Here is what is changed in that update.

Main File : stage 2update.hpt
Compare File: Cobalt SS 06 Stage 2.hpt

Main File Parameters : 229
Compare File Parameters: 229

Parameters Compared: 187
Differences : 3
Similarities: 184

Engine
Idle
Idle RPM
Idle RPM
Target Idle Speed vs. Coolant Temp vs. (Drive & Park, A/C On & Off) 8 of 34 cells
Fuel Control
General Fuel
Injector Control
Injector Offset vs. Battery Voltage vs. KPA VAC 376 of 1089 cells

Engine Diagnostics
Airflow
MAF Sensor
MAF Sensor Fail High 11000 : 10000 Hz

Idle RPM was raised from 750 to 850 in PARK/Neutral from 177degrees on up
Injector offset vs Battery Voltage was changed to stabalize the changing idle.
Maf Sensor fail rate was upped from 10,000hz to 11,000hz to elliminate the CEL light

SO it only fixes the surging idle, CEL light.....
