P0171 code caused by fuel pump failure
P0171 code caused by fuel pump failure
I went to the dealer yesterday for the thousandth time and turns out my p0171 code is due to the fact that my fuel pump is failing. I have a 2.85 with a cold air intake and stage 2 and the vibrant exhaust. Could any of these mods have caused my fuel pump to fail or was it just a lemon part? I havent heard of anyones fuel pumps goin to **** so I was just curious what may have caused this if anything. Thanks!
damn man yea I must have just gotten a bad fuel pump. Can they tell when they looked at the data logs that it was my fuel pump? Also my car has been running kinda hot. When Im driving it stays at 175 but when I idle it goes up to like 215. What if anything could be the cause of this?
Although this could explain one reason why my gas mileage has gone to ****.

well unless you had your car tuned to run cooler (I.E. change fan settings) that's normal to hit @215-220 degrees or so.
As for the pump, I don't know how they were able to see by datalogging it. really only way to tell is hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch it while the car is under load to see if there are any pressure fluctuations.
As for the p0171 it's a common code on these cars if you do an air intake, or exhaust and don't retune for it. It's nothing major, just one of the annoying quirks of these cars

Yea thats what I thought that it was normal but they said the car really was running lean and that the problem was that the fuel pump was not delivering the proper amount of fuel. Ive had my injen on for almost a year with no problems thats why I thought maybe it wasnt the intake and it turned out they said it was the fuel pump. Its ok though its covered under warranty
. I just wanted to make sure that the 2.85 ive got is the cause of the fuel pump failure.
