pace setter too cheap???

ok guys i am on a serious budget right now, due to some major home repairs in progress. i was looking around on C.A. like i often do, dreaming. i noticed they have the pace setter system for like 200 bucks. anyone running pace setter that can speak of this systems quality and performance? cuz i know you get what you pay for. plus i like the idea of it being black and sort of low key

i had the pacesetter on my 2.2 for about a year and a half. the only thing i would recommend is to get better clamps than what come with the kit. the clamps were really cheap. but, you can get 3 new clamps from any auto store for less than 10 dollars so it's not really a big deal. i had it on through a good ole new jersey winter, zero rust. it held up better than my stock peices, and also held up better than my stainless steel downpipe.

by itself it sounded great. when i added a downpipe together they sounded like crap. not sure if it was the downpipe or the exhaust. like i said, before the downpipe the exhaust sounded great. i added in a 12' resonator for 50 and it cut the tone down alot, still didn't sound great though.

so i guess it depends on what you plan on doing to the car. if you just want to do a catback, and leave it at that, i would recommend the pacesetter if you're on a budget. if you plan on doing more exhaust parts, (downpipe and header) i wouldn't get it.

as far as the rust, it's their older products that will rust on you. the newer products were redisigned and though it's still not stainless, the quality is 100 times better than it was a few years ago.

ah ok, thank you for correcting my statement. i had a feeling that they changed from the old j-bodys, thats when they were bad news. but for 200 you cant go wrong.

its tough, as far as plans my only goals for the car are stage ii, intake, catback, honed manifold, maybe the dual pass kit, and then i am going to concentrate on show quality looks, lol. imo those go fast mods should make for a still reliable streetcar. sounds to me like the pace setter would not be so bad for me. plus i am not really cool with spending 800 on an exhaust, lol
