I have a pacesetter header installed but since i cut the ball joint off the exhaust shop cant find a gasket that will last more then a week. What are you guys using?

What kind of flange are you using? Do you have any flex pipe up in there?

I used the stock cat, and the donut flange the header came with... welded it together like the directions said... works just fine...

I guess I need more info on what they did exactly. I’m assuming they cut off the ball joint from the Pacesetter, and welded on a two-bolt flange, because your custom downpipe has a two-bolt flange. BUT, if there is no flex-pipe-section on the downpipe anywhere, that two-bolt flange is absorbing the movement of the motor, which over time, is proba-bly wearing out the gasket. So I’m thinking that a new gasket isn’t the real fix here… Hope that makes sense…

No there is a flex pipe. They cut off the ball joint using a 2 bolt flange on the downpipe with a flex joint on the dp. They said they couldnt get a gasket thats 3 inches so that STI one should work right?

considering most of the high horsepower guys on this forum run and reccomend the pacesetter i made a good choice. I have absolutely no complaints from it, i just need a gasket.

Hmmm. Thats strange that it's still blowing out gaskets then

But yes, any 3" two-bolt metallic gasket (like that STi one) would work.

have them weld the downpipe to the header. That's what I did. Makes it all one piece, better for flow, and no more gasket problems. If you ever change the setup, you'll probably have to get a new dp though.

What about the o2 sensor bung being on the bottom? I hear thats bad for the sensor that it should be on top. I got my pacesetter header coming soon so I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with there o2 sensor going out?

Okay i already ordered it, the shop said the biggest they could get there hands on was 2, 1/4inch. Thats a good idea, if this one doesnt work ill just have them do that.

the only thing i can think of is that the flange is warped... have them weld up a new one for you...

yea, they'll have to take the header out, weld the dp on, then put the header back on the car, and connect it to the catback.
