PB 2.8" install

I have the gm stage 2 hub on my S/C. I am having trouble getting the PB 2.8" to fit over the hub. There is so little room to work with. How did you guys get yours to fit on the S/C hub? Did you have to pull the S/C to get it on there?

Hey man, glad to see it came in on time. When I put it on it just slid right on. I had a tough time getting the extra slack from tensioner to put the belt back on, but not the pulley on the hub.

That is interesting...it should slip right on. I would compare it to your 3", and inspect the hub closely as well to see where the defect is. I wonder if the stage 2 hub and pulley could have warped slightly during use? I don't see how, but I suppose anything is possible.

You could also try putting the 2.8" in the oven for a while. If it's a really close fit, that may do the trick. Many people do that when putting a new hub on the s/c, but it might help here, too.

We finally got it on there. I went to autzone and got two longer bolts and did it that way. It sure does pull harder and up in the boost early

I had the same problem, It is because the stock tensioner "nut" is garbage. Mine was rounded off half way through the Stage 2 install. If you had to run longer bolts than something is wrong. If they are fully threaded they may be rubbing on the snout. OR if they are not fully seated than you will have slop/rattle in that assy. That is very bad.

You just need to use a breaker bar with a solid leverage point and compress the tensioner that way. Makes doing the swap much easier. That stage 2 belt rocks with either the 3" or 2.8" I havent had any slip yet.

Also, if you didn't, you should have bought the bolts from PB, they are much easier to work with IMO

Will the stock s2 bolts work w/ the 2.8" If I pull them out, will I have problems putting them back in?

Yes they will work, but like I said, there are better bolts available. Lots of people have had trouble removing the blue bolts. I haven't heard of anyone having probs with the PB ones

SS33, I think he used the longer bolts to pull the pulley onto the hub sort of like how you put the hub onto the shaft. :

I reused my stage 2 bolts so I could hide the swap from my very attentive buddies.
