PCM Conundrum
PCM Conundrum
OK here is the deal. We just bought our first house, so my priorities have drastically changed.
I have a 2007 SS/SC with Stage 2, ZZP header/down pipe combo, GM performance exhaust, an AEM wide band and an Interceptor.
I recently had my car tuned (about 2 months ago) when I had a lot more free money. The re-tune is nothing extreme. Now what I want to do is get my GM tune back on the car for warranty purposes.
Now I have searched and from what I can tell the best way to go is:
Get a used Stage 2 PCM (has to be from another 2007 SS/SC)
Swap PCM
Do a security learn - 30 min method (no tools required)
Do a CASE learn - Can be done with interceptor
Is this it??? what about the VIN number difference?
Another option is I can get a new PCM from CED, but from what I know they are empty, and I would have to have the dealer reprogram it for me.
Is there a better way of doing this?

Can you go back to your tuner and ask them to reflash your former stg2 tune back? He should have your car unlocked already so it wouldn't cost anything for him to modify your PCM...
I was going to ask him, but with GM being able to detect aftermarket tunes, I was concerned that the GM tune programed into the PCM via HP tuners would look like an aftermarket tune anyway.
CASE Learn does not work with the Interceptor! Not on the 2.0 at least! Other motors will work but not the 2.0 SS/SC... You will have to go to the dealer to get the CASE Learn done...
Another thing... If you buy another PCM, it will have to have your VIN number coded into it, requiring HP Tuners.
I absolute best thing to do it to go back to the same person who tuned you originally, ans have them throw an 07' Stage tune on the PCM... Take it in for work, then have them flash back your custom tune. Then you will be fine...
