pcm troubles, i think!
one morning i went to drive my car and it started just fine but i left my parking brake on and when i tried to go i killed it obviously, but when i went to start it again it wouldn't start and the DIC showed "engine power reduced" and "Engine disabled". i unhooked the battery and then it started fine again. i made it about 100 feet and it did it again. but instead of unhooking the battery again i waited like a minute and it started again but the CEL was on and it kept doing this randomly. i got the code pulled and it was P0601, or Internal control module memory check sum error. i did some research and most of the sources say to replace pcm. has this problem affected anyone else and know any solutions?
also my car has been randomly for the past month starting and misfiring for about 3 minutes and then snaps out of it. but it only randomly does this, and i'm not sure if these problems are linked or if i have two separate problems.

my SM says (for the 2.2/2.4L which I've understood to run a similar ecm type to yours) says the following;
page 6-88 shows a flow chart on how technicians are supposed to go about confirming the issue, as well as record or proceed with it..
from page 6-92;
With that very last point, have you tried actually clearing it?
Older cars would easily erase codes when the battery is disconnected - but to the best of my knowledge, these ones will store codes/issues...
good luck!!

Emissions related DTCs:
Actions taken when DTC sets - Type A:
- The control module illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the diagnostic runs and fails.
- The control module records the operating conditions at hthe time the diagnostic fails. The control module stores this information in the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
-----------
Conditions for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A and Type B
- The control module turns off the MIL after 4 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
- A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
- A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emissions related diagnostic.
- Clear the MIL and teh DTC with a scan tool.

i havent tried legitimately clearing with a scan tool, but the guy that tunes my car reflashed my tune on the car and the DTC still popped up a day later with the code and the ENGINE POWER REDUCED and ENGINE DISABLED.
From what I've read here, I would say your PCM = Toast You'll have to get a new one.
That also means that in adition to getting your tuen reflashed you'll need to have a re-learn acomplished. No big deal though any dealership can do it. I heard you can do it from an interceptor gauge too but dono if its the correct relearn.

InfraRedline can do a case relearn right from hptuners so the OP should be good to go with that part of things, it's just the security relearn that can be a biatch sometimes.
sure hope thats what it is! it went three days and hasnt done it but now i cant drive it cause of the injector.

Code P0601 usually points to an internal PCM fault, but it is still worth checking battery voltage, grounds, and wiring first since low voltage can trigger false memory errors. I once heard a technician at Luxury Rides LLC mention weak batteries causing similar reduced power messages. If everything checks out, PCM replacement or reprogramming may be required.
