I hope you are not jerking our chains on the staged upgrades being warrantied! That is key in whether I choose to upgrade or not.

I talked to gm and they didnt specify the kits, but they said any performance parts they produce have a 1 year warrenty on them.

for comparison Stage 2 no toys for srt is in the same ballpark, and you get the PCM, WG, injectors, etc.
remember you are paying for some development costs also....

stop whining already! the kit is plug and flash, then you go, no tuning, no guessing nothing, just stick the stuff in and GO!
For stage 1 I agree, it's not bad at all. It's the stage 2 part that seems pretty damn steep.

Well the reason why I believe it will be hacked is because the code is just like any other program in the world. Once it is released there will be a ton of people ripping it off. Software no matter where it goes can be copied and modified. Billetflow is 129 ? I thought they were 100 I don't know I got mine for free. I want the 2.9 billetflow I don't like the idea of a 2.8 and I want a little smaller than the 3 that GM is going to give. What I am saying $750 is reasonable for all of the parts and the install but not just for the parts. Tack on 2 bills and you are looking at a Grand for the kit.... we will see at this point it is all conjecture. BTW i hit 15 psi tonight....... See ya at the meet Max......... Hopefully by then I will have someones staged kit Also you can show me what I am doing right and wrong with my car. I know about cars but I never played in the FI arena so this is a learning subject for me.

Like what was stated before why can't we all buy Stage 1 and buy our own 2.9" Pulley that is interchangable. Because from what I'm getting the only difference between Stage 1 and 2 is the new smaller belt and smaller pulley. Stage 1 and 2 come with the flash and high flow injectors

to be honest, I don't think GM will honor a warranty on a pulley that wasn't bought through them. I know that with any part you buy through GM you get a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. I wish I could find where I saw that in writing.

i would easily buy into a warrenty mechanical part rather than an after market ... specially when my car is still under warrenty.

Some people may want to wait and see what pontiac does with the g4 for those of you leasing like me you may not want to spend anymore $$$ on mods. my thinking was when I bought this car was that if I loved it after 2 yrs I would keep it but if another SS came out with more stock hp I would buy that. Pontiac is really considering putting the 260 hp turbo ecotec in their g4. It will look the same as the cobalt ss but have red lights on the interior like all pontiacs which is cool. Also if they follow the sunfire gt you will have a nice little dual exhaust setup. IMO it would be more advantageous to us if pontiac releases that g4 with the turbo ecotec because it will cost the same as our current payments and put us stock where we are trying to be right now.

really dont see the turbo happening...its a matter of packaging, why would they spend more $$$$ develping a turbo when they have the s/c ready to go...nope...dont see that happening.
remember the turbo in the solstice is a REAR wheel drive powertrain, if you have seen pics of the engine there is NO way to turn that sideways and make that fit without EXTENSIVE changes....

my plan is that hopefully crate engine depot gets them at a descent price and have it shipped cuz the dealerships are going to rip everyone off especially in canada. Ex front lower grill. Dealership $114 CED $45. Do the conversion and shipping and its still cheaper. We get ripped off in canada for almost everything car related.

I understand there will be a warranty on gm stages. but will gm still warrant the rest of your car or will they void it?

The way it's been explained to me is that any aftermarket product you put on ur car causes something else to break or fail than the part that broke b/c of the aftermarket product is not warrentied. Rest of the car is.

It's just for the Parts... Does not include install!

I don't see why we couldn't just buy Stage 1 and buy the smaller belt and smaller pulley and put that on ourselves. Seems like thats the only difference between Stage 1 and 2 accoriding to the MAIN Stage upgrades thread started back in november? If Stage 1 is $499 and Stage 2 is $750 for parts only with a difference of $251. The smaller drive belt and smaller pulley shouldn't cost that much!

screw these stage kits I got tired of waiting for them so I went with the revitup kit and man I'm happy I did. If something goes wrong I'll just remove it and take it to the dealer. I'm so tired of all this speculation of these kits. No one really knows anything it seems to me. Just me 2cents

Your ECU will show that you were running aftermarket parts when you take it into service. It records every detai of the engine and superchargers operation. Don't be so confident that you can swap everything back and GM won't notice. You may not get away with that.

Agreed 100%. I was the one who first posted the pics of the 2.0L turbo. At minimum, if they are throwing this engine in the car, they need to re-position the turbo itself, and the intercooler. These parts all need to be re-located since the engine is transversley mounted in a FWD car. Also, moving these may mean power loss due to restricted airflow by the routing of air being changed.

Plus, why would GM sell a car for $20,490 that weighed about the same and had the same power output of a $25000 roadster! That would hurt Solstice GXP sales. The 2.0L turbo will be exclusive for a while on the Solstice/Sky in my opinion.

Also, GM has no need to give this car more power! It is already more powerful and quicker than it's competition. It is faster than a Civic Si, RSX Type-S, Mini Cooper S, Focus, or Toyota Celica GT-S. Yes, the Caliber has 300HP, but it will weigh at least 200 lbs more, and has a starting price of $26,000 not the SS/SC price of $20,490! Also, why would pontiac make a 260 HP entry level car, when they are trying to sell the new G6 GTP with only 241 HP???? Sure, the LSJ car is already faster, but lots of people that buy these cars get sold by the power figure.

Another thing to think about is that when the SS/SC came out, the SRT-4 weighed about the same and offered a 2.4L Turbo with 230 HP/ 250 ft-lbs of torque. If making the fastest, most powerful FWD car was all GM cared about, wouldn't they have at least tried to do better than being 25 HP and 50 ft-lbs of torque shy of the SRT-4?
