Definately will need rod bolts. May want to think about getting the head ported while its off?

Your going to need a Ring Spreader Tool as well as a torque wrench..

Same thing. It's just piece of mind to get new ones. I'm contemplating putting new rod bearings in too.

Though so.. Just like Cam Sprocket Bolts are Cam Gear Bolts.. I was so ******* confused :P

Speaking of which, you'll need Cam Gear Bolts.. They're 17 bucks from Crate Engine Depot..

if your are fine keep em. there good to at least 500hp the clevite's and others all need attention before they fit correctly and if not done right immediate catastophic failure will occur, also the crank will need to be removed for sizing as even the stock size clevite's are too small of a clearence and at minimum crank polishing will be needed

good to know about the bearings... what if gains of over 500whp are in the future what would you reccomend? i still need to buy bearings and thats about it. and id like to add that i would never re use a rod bolt unless its an ARP. after seeing what happened to my engine... no way. those are torque to yield, buy new ones because i lost about $3,000 from my last build. i reused a set and i sheared them on my number 1 piston i got pics to prove it.... no good. on the cam bolts i reused them but i used loctite. good stuff!

I only paid $30 or so for new rod bolts, can't beat that.

Don't follow the 65ft lbs of torque everyone tells you. That's the biggest bs i've ever heard about a torque spec.

Please change the rod and crank bearings when you are there anyway. It is so easy to do when the engine is out.

Make sure to use assembly lube (Red ****) on every friction surface.

very true, if you're installing new bearings... the RIGHT thing to do is take it to a machine shop to be checked for roundness and size

Alignhone, Balance the Crank, Mill The Head, Mill the Deck. As a MINIMUM..

Then let them assemble it because it should be no more than $100.00 extra.

Let your dad do it and it will blow, then you will become EPIC FAIL because you tried to save a penny.
