pistons and rods lets discuss

i just got through reading the gm sport compact build book third edition dam good book i must say
the 2.2 and the 2.0 have the same bore 86mm just a diferent stroke
they talk about using a lsj rod in a 2.2 up to 300 hp with a forged piston or get eagle or manly rods
well why cant we use 2.2 eagle rods in our lsj they are the same length according to the book and the pin height on the piston is the only difference so apparantly we could use a 2.2 piston with eagle rods in our blocks

The wrist pin is a different size I believe. Not sure about the connection to the crank. I would think it is different too, but not too sure.

according to the book the small and big end is same size a 2.2 rod is a hair longer but with the right pin height on the piston it should work

I think someone has a thread that shows the actual difference in size by a picture. You can clearly see the two are different wrist pin wise.

lsj stock pin diameter is 23mm 2.2 is 20mm but who cares u can get a 2.2 forged piston with a different comp height and use with eagle rods in our 2.0 the longer rod is going to remove stress off the cylnder walls remove stress off the crank remove stress off the piston skirts and last longer and give the engine the ability to rev faster and higher which will help make more torque and horsepower
