just an FYI for you guys, he is having problems with his heat exchanger. He is fixing the issue and we will be tuning it as soon as his new one comes in. If he wants to get into details he can, but I won't since it's not my car.

Well that's simple, he obviously spun a muffler bearing and dump all his turn signal fluid into his intake and blew the welds on it

well you guys would have your numbers if ZZP wasn't railinggggggggggg the **** out of me.

They sent me a heat exchanger with a hole in it and won't give me a new one because all their units are "pressure tested before they leave the shop"

The car is running awesome besides the 207* IAT2's. It's making 20.8 lbs of boost at WOT, fuel trims are good and the meth is doing some serious work. I have cooling solutions on the way so it won't be much longer

Yikes !!

You need to make some flow improvements. That is an awefully high boost level for a 2.6" pulley.

Well I'm going by the law of PV=nrT that basically says that once I get the temperature down, the boost will go down with it.

When I'm seeing IAT2's of 160* or something in that general area, it should be in the 18-19 lb range. Plus I'll be running a new exhaust setup (longtubes)

Ok.

The long tubes should be a nice improvement (flow wise) over your shorty header & 2.5" downpipe setup.

That sucks about ZZP not sending you a new H/E.

I'm really pissed about it. I was saving money to build my motor and I will not buy any more ZZP parts. I hate dealing with these vendors that don't care about us at all. They see us as wallets.

I'm in contact with John Powell, Euthanasia and other sources and that's where I'll be getting my parts from now on. It's so much better to deal with people that actually care about you and your situation. I have to give mad props to the 2 guys I mentioned. They're the one's that solved my cooling problems (Euthanasia) and hooked me up with the longtubes (Powell)

My boost tends to go up in the wintertime i think?.. Denser air entering the TB makes more pressure when heated and expands?

Perhaps?

I once received a leaking H/E from them as well. Took many choice words over many phone calls to management to get a new one... Good luck!

I don't know what you guys talking about.

I am not sure what I hit with my ZZP S3 HE but it was all twisted and bent. It still does not leak. I might have to take pics of it because I found it pretty surprising...

The unit is strong. Not denying that. I still run one on my car. We're talking about leaks from new, AKA not welded fully, burnt through, etc. Different.

I've never seen my IAT2's go over ~140's*F with my setup making ~23lbs of boost on a 2.8" pulley'd TVS. No meth.

GM and Powell did lots of testing on the larger Griffin H/E that OTTP now sells as their S2 exchanger. To say that an add on H/E or a bigger H/E is not a 'good' mod is simply wrong. An add-on H/E has been proved time and time again to lower temps and not let the car heatsoak so quickly. Additional fluid capacity also works wonders. It can not be said that meth is the end all, be all of cooling mods. Not to mention that there is no such thing as 100% methanol, and the large percentage of methanol in your trunk or underhood is a hazard and certainly not DOT legal. Not being too much of a dick, but the opinionated and biased post does little to advance any knowledge.

As you know E85 would be much preferred to meth as meth is a PITA and does not give all of the same results. Meth is a bandaid fix. Since you live in PGH you know there is only a small handfull of stations around that carry E. If it wasn't for the availability problem I would certainly be running E85.

Hmm yes. What my post is is a threadjack, so back to the OP please. Please continue your banter, maybe somebody else will challenge your holier than thou attitude. If you want proof as to why meth is not God, and H/E's work (or they wouldn't be on cars from the factory) then please do some research before making blanket statements. I have nothing against you personally, I just don't want the other kiddies to think that stuff is teh win, without a little tech info.

Just for kicks, it's impossible to distill any alcohol to 100% as some water will always remain. Basic chemistry.
