Unhappy Please Help!

Well this past weekend I went to the track for the second time with this car and was not really impressed. The first time I went my best time was a 14.7 and best 60" time was a 2.4 and best mph was 99. My mods were intake, cat-back, and upper engine mount. The car wheel hopped like crazy so I figured I would get some new tranny mounts to get rid of it. In the proses I got a great deal on a stage 2 kit and topped that off with a 2.85" pulley. I figured this would make a huge difference and boy was I wrong! The wheel hop was lessoned but not gone and a little more wheel spin as expected. I tried launching at all different rpm's and found nothing to be truly suitable. My best time was a 14.3(with my wife in the car) with a 2.4 60' time . My mph kept getting higher but the best mph was my last run and it was a 102. I am also only boosting 15.5 to maybe 16 psi. This just doesn't seem right and the car seems to be pulling really hard. Does anyone have any ideas, comments, or suggestions on how to improve my situation. Thanks in advance.

r/t dosent effect overall time, time starts when you leave the line! have u re-tuned for the 2.85 pulley? or are u running a stg 2 tune? if so get it re-tuned cuz your prolly running lean, also if your going for low times try not to have your wife with you! and like mentioned work on the 60' and you should be golden!

I heard feathering the clutch helps a lot when taking off, since our axles don't like to take a pounding plus the wheel hop issues. I've run my best times when i had a jetta when the clutch was going cause it allowed it to slip mostly through first gear. Just don't use the clutch so much that you glaze it.

You really need to get your 60ft time down to run some descent times it takes practise. Your trap speed is there just not your 60ft.

I have to agree... you need to work on your launches if you want to get your times down. You should be able to get into the high 13s without much trouble with your mods.

drop you 60' R/T is just for show..

rule of thumb... every .1 you take off your 60' will equate to .2 off your 1/4 time...

your easily a mid 13 sec car but you just need the driver mod

Okay... if you wanna lower your times... lose that weight.

Ditch the wife... ditch the jack and spare out of the back... pull out the rear seats. That'll save you 200lbs or so. (Not saying the wife is that heavy, just a guess) LOL

Now to help with traction... lower your tire pressure to say 25PSI... it'll help you hook.

Just watch launching too hard... you can snap the stock axles with the mods you are running.

I don't have the car tuned for the 2.85" pulley and it doesn't seem to be running lean. In fact it is putting a little puff of black smoke at the 7k shift.

The only thing about taking all that stuff out is that I have to drive 100 miles to the track and don't want to chance a flat on a 2 lane mountain road.

I can't find anyone around to tune for me and I don't fully under stand HP Tuners well enough to purchase it. Once I feel confident enough to tune with out blowing something up I will buy it.

100% agree with that.

Well not that the reaction matter much like the others said but my best of the night was a .112 and if I am sleeping it is around .3.

The wife is about 5'10" 130 pounds so there not much weight. The most I would gain by leaving her out would be a tenth or so. As far as the rest I don't want to dissmantle the car for a tenth or two.

Shifting is no problem, but the right rpm to launch at is the key I just haven't found it yet.

Yea I had 3 1/4 of a tank. I should of thought that through with that a little more.

feather it at around 2500 if it doesn't bog then u should hook and go ahead and floor it. after i launch and hook, i floor and the tires don't spin as bad most the time u can tell if ur spinning at the end of first by quick shifting into 2nd and if ur RPM's are below 4k then u did a bad job. i know its hard to hear tires spinning when all u can listen to is ur s/c

Take that stuff out at the track , you don't need to leave it at home.

Well I went back to the track and yielded a little better times but I still could not break into the 13's. I ran 14.0 @ 104 with a 2.4 60' time. The car feels really good and fast, but I could not hook up for ****. My 60' times stayed the same all night but my mph at the beginning of the night was 102 and steadily went up to 104 by the end of the night. I think I will buy a air pump so I can play with tire pressure front and rear. I was thinking around 25 psi for the front and 45-50 psi for the rear. Any more suggestions?

ya if you still have wheel hop go with a ingalls stiffy shock, other than that your doing really good for what you have if you have the money get 60lbs injectors, oversized tensioner just to make sure its not slipping and a hptune. but all and all great numbers!

The ingalls will not work with the TTR mount. I believe my next mods will be the CAB's and maybe a strut tower brace. The car should be mid to high 13's with the mods that I have. I think with a few more adjustment I will be there.
