i am new and ive herd ppl calling it the intercooler as well as the intake. but i was told its pointless to port the intake ports. the part that needs ported is the area where the air comes in and help cools the coolant is what needs to be cut open and port that area. yea i didnt word it right my bad.

The LSJ has an intake manifold with an integrated laminova intercooler.

If you are asking about this, then yes, people have port & polished them.

just answer him jerks. euthanasia is the guy who does this. pm here he uses these forums everyday and works out of his shop in oxnard california. the ported my intake manifold and converted it to single pass for a very fair price and the finished work both looks and works well. buy a spare off the classified section here and ship it to him then when you get the one from him, install it and sell your stock one on the classifieds to recover the cost.

Disagree. When Hot Rod magazine did their LSJ build they saw a 2 psi drop from the blower to the engine. With that kind of restriction it limited the useful amount of boost they could run with the TVS 1900. They ended the article saying they would port the IM if they were to spend more time and money on the LSJ

Thanks for answering my question I now know that its called. My head is getting ported soon but I was wondering if porting the laminova would help with cooling .

But they didn't. So this article shows no proof of what a ported IM would do, plus many people have made more power then this without porting on the intake side. Also not really impressed with only 370whp with cams and the m90, I think they could have got more out of it.

The 370hp was with the 1900 TVS blower.

Also, the test was performed on an engine dyno, w/o the a/c compressor and such.

That 370hp could be considered as 370bhp really....

Area47, along with many others, have made more than that with the TVS 1320.

Yeah they made more with ported heads, e85 and 7800 rpm, none of which Hot Rod used. It's not the point, the point is they made an observation about inefficient airflow which is correct

Yes, inefficient airflow for redic large blower on a motor it was not initially designed to be used on....

When you move the volume of air that blower moves it is obvious the stock lsj head & intake system will become a restriction at some point.

Again, it is a nice article to read with some neat facts.

And for the record area did this without a ported head or cams... he was on stock cams at his highest HP numbers... jus saying, area did have some valve train work yes.

e85 yes but they were using 100 octane so that is a wash...

You are not making an apples to apples comparison but nice try. Porting IM is unnecessary as this isn't where the restriction is. Single pass, yes is way better than stock and dual when done CORRECTLY.
