possible problems with intake

Ok guys I been having problems with my car for a real long time, let's start from the beginning... I have full exhaust and an ebay intake the car ran fine with those mods but then I got the stage kit from ottp and after that its been nothing but problems I had no clue what it was... my car went into limp mode, and was hesitating and bucking, and threw a couple codes at me P0101 was the one that always came out so I changed the MAF and nothing..... I thought it was the tune and sent the ecu back so they can take a look at it but they said it looked normal so I called ottp up and the guys ask me what type of intake do I have...... problem solved , I put the stock airbox back on and my car has been running great.... So lesson well learned for me, and just a heads up for other

Was it an actual brand name intake or some ebay crap? You get what you pay for.

actually zach came by to tune me today and said it is a common code for many intakes, then worked his magic disabled the code and bing, no more p0172 and p101. Props to zach he is an excellent tuner. I also have an ebay intake, but it ironically looks exactly like an ottp 3" intake...weird.

dude, that is the EXACT seller I bought my intake from! I had trouble getting the elbow on, so I shaved some rubber off of it to fit, and it was a bitch to guide the pipe down, and he sent me the wrong filter, but nobody can see it sooo. But so far its pretty good.

I just put my eBay intake on and my car running bad too. I guess all the intakes change the flow of the air enough to throw the code. The maf sensor doesn't stick in far enough to read all the air due to the bigger piping. Sucks, I thought it was cause of the cheap eBay tube but it's the same as any other intake tube. I had a k & n laying around so I used that instead ofthe eBay filter to be on safe side.

I did feel a noticible gain in hp and was happy with fitment... Just have to figure out what to do to fix the prob. Prob just go stock til I get zzp and tune

I just think your getting ripped off... It's a 3 Inch pipe. How much could it cost to make. Your paying for the name. I even think paying the $65 for an eBay intake is over priced. Like I did though, I would suggest using a better brand filter since that's the part that actually matters.

We have dyno'd some Cobalts with generic ebay intakes and found the MAF readings to be as much as 20% off from actual airflow, on the high side. This means that commanding an 11.5:1 a/f ratio nets a 9.6:1 afr on 60s, or in the case of stock or 42 lb injectors, they just max out the entire time you are wot.
