Possibly off on timing?

so i blew my **** up last year, took forever but we put her back together... to make a long story short, everything was fine and then out of nowhere one of my cam gears snapped and the car stalled out... bought a new cam gear, re timed it but kept getting a P0017 code... it is the CPS sensor. we tried clocking it many times but it just wouldnt work. is it possible my timing could be off a tooth? i cant think of anything else.. the car drives fine, its definately slower in 3rd gear but i havent gone WOT yet because i dont want the same mistake to happen again.. but the one thing i did start noticing after that code kept popping up besides the fact that my car sometimes takes forever to start, when im cruising... say in 2nd like at 4 grand... my afr plummets to 10.5 to 11 and my interceptor shows like 150+ misfires.. and once in awhile the cel will flash because of it.. but once i shift into 3rd, it clears up after a couple seconds. i seriously doubt its the sensor itself but im open to any suggestions.

I had the CPS go in my car 2 years ago.

Before I finally discovered the sensor was shot for sure, I tried a dozen times to get the car timed. I had all the hard start issues like you. I didnt have an interceptor gauge at the time so I couldnt tell you if I had missfires or not.

I ended up purchasing a new sensor (actually had the work performed under warrenty), and havent had an issue since.
