Ppl with OTTP Stage 2 Chime In...

I want to get the ottp stage 2 kit this summer for my car But I have a few questions.

First my car is basically stock as far as the engine goes except for a K&N CAI, and an exhaust with a vibrant header/DP and a 3" Hahn cat-back.

I don't want the oversized tensioner pulley...so I'm guessing I would need the GM Stage 2 belt, the m62 multiple pulley system.

- Is this kit hard to install?
-Do I need to buy a whole new PCM for $100 or just do the email reflash and how would I reflash it?
-Do I need any cooling mods, or just an OTTP Heat exchanger?
-Any other advice or suggestions?

OTTP Chime in as well if you see this...

I didn't install my kit. I went to OTTP and Josh and Sean installed mine. The install isn't too hard except for pressing the hub onto the supercharger snout.

You need access to HP Tuners to flash their tune on your PCM. If you can't do that, you will need them to send you the PCM for the $100 and then you may need a CASE learn afterwards.
-Do I need any cooling mods, or just an OTTP Heat exchanger?
I ran mine with no cooling mods for almost a year. I then used a heat exchanger just like OTTPs, and it worked well, but the more cooling mods the better. These blowers create tons of heat anyway you look at it, especially during the summer.
-Any other advice or suggestions?
It's a great it. You already have good prerequisites (Exhaust mods), I had none at all. I ran the 2.8 pulley, 60lb injectors, cooler plugs and their tune for almost a year.

Only other question is can I press the hub onto the snout with tools I have here, or do i need to buy a tool kit in order to do this?

When Josh installed my kit, he had a hub removal/press tool kind of like ZZP rents out. Not sure if there's another way to do it without that tool.

That's a good quesiton. Mine is set to 7200. I would assume for periodic pulls 7400 might be okay, but I'm not too sure. I wouldn't hit 7400 everyday, that's for sure (with stock valvetrain that is)

No problem! You'll definitely enjoy it I've had mine for over 30k miles with no problems. I do have a pretty rough idle though (lots of misfires), but everyone on here says that's just the way 60lb injectors idle.

That's something you'll have to ask a good tuner or OTT. I'm not sure, I didn't mind because my car had a crappy idle before the OTT kit, so I didn't bother trying to fix it. I've just gotten used to it. If you do a search for rough idle and 60lb injectors, you'll see a bunch of stuff.

only use the 7400 RPM limit if you have valve springs which you dont. stay at 7200

alright cool, thanks man. My car idles weird right now but I think it has to do with the throttle body being dirty, the rpms go up and down sometimes when I come to a stop and push the clutch in without downshifting.

And when I first start it up before its been running for a while it does that up and down thing between like 720 - 1050 rpms

Yeah, that's how my car idles. I cleaned the throttle body and MAF with no luck.

thats not good news for me as i haven't cleaned my tb yet.

I did throw a code the other day with all the rain i've been having in my area, it was a random P0496 code on my intercepter.

I researched the code and this is what I found... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/problems-service-maintenance-69/p0496-136224/

This might be the answer to our rough idle problems, but my cars engine warranty is up so I don't know if I could pull strings to get this covered...

scroll all the way to the last post on the link lol, its not the gas cap

I've heard that people with 80lb injectors idle just fine. Not sure if that's true, because I had the same exact idle before the OTT kit.

I have a stock intake, so I'm not too sure what effect that has on the idle situation, but be careful driving through the rain!

yea i was coming home from work the one night and we had a slushy snow and rain mix. My car started bogging while i was on the highway and I was like ****!

So I pulled it over and just let it idle for a while until it started getting smooth again and it was alright.

Scared the **** out of me though.

Yeah, I've hydrolocked an engine before, that's one of the reasons I've been hesitant on getting an intake.

yea I was a little scared when that happened, but the slush was so heavy and wet.

I've never had any problem in the rain what-so-ever with my K&N CAI and its been on for more than 2 years, I think you'll be fine man, just watch for major puddles.

I've thought about dropping to a 2.7 with keeping the tune as it is. What kind of boost levels are you seeing with the 2.7 and your mods?

Here is a video of my car with the OTTP stage 2 kit with a 2.7" pulley. I kept their tune. Mods are in my sig.

Me vs a Cobalt SS/TC before and after his Trifecta tune

Pretty good their kit IMHO And I had my stock catback during that time

hard

hard to install as in what? nothing that you get from ottp or zzp is hard to install. I parted togather my own kit and it took less then 3 hours to get everything on was cake.

take your bumper off and you should be fine

also some things to consider and i know someones gunna flame me for it but a 3inch exhaust is a bit big for what your looking for but it shouldnt hurt it that much

sounds like your going to have a very sick set up when its all done

also if you dont have someone to custom tune you then send your pcm in and i dont really hear anyone say they need a case relearn unless they just took someone elses pcm

also for the hub and using a rubber mallet put it on after that if you need it any further on mine didnt but if yours does use a socket really easy stuff man great hp and tq gains as well
