Problem with Ingalls TD

Last year my torque dampener felt like it wasnt doing anything anymore. The little piston thing freely moves in and out with no resistance. So I took it out and its been sliding around in my trunk all year. Does anyone think that I could put a neat TIG weld all the way around the piston to make it one solid piece? I mean I know the vibrations would be terrible but its better than having nothing at all right?

Actually your best bet is to sell it and get some mounts. It has been found the TD does nothing compared to other engine mounts.

I'd rather not sell a broken part. The brackets are still good though.

thank you!

im not sure if welding it would work, i have a feeling something would break from the added stress of being solid

I'll try to adjust it to see if it helps. But it feels like internally there is nothing there. Maybe it happened when I got in that accident.

Yeah that sounds logical. I wonder who would want some TD brackets... Maybe I can just put the brackets back on and put a shitload of thick rubber bands on there!
