Anything below 3.0", and you're gonna need injectors. And you may as well get a reflash. F*** it, just get Stage 2!

Don't put a pulley on unless you plan on tuning the car as well. If you can't afford one of the kits, my advice would be to leave the car stock.

2005 Cobalts can do a 2.8 with the factory injectors because they run richer for some reason.

on a 2006 I would stick with a 3.0 and get a wideband to keep an eye on things.

ok so stage one is like 500. Thats for your injectors and tune. A pulley is like 100-150. then you would need a pulley puller 150. a belt tensioner anotha 75-100. you are looking at like 800 with OUT the install of stage 1. so you buy stage 2 at like 637. install at like 75-95 an hour for 2 hours so anotha 200. so 837 and you are done or almost the same amount for stage one the pulley and puller and a tensioner. You make the pick and if you blow up ur engiene with a smaller pulley its not covered under warranty where as stg 2 is.

Listen, save your money and purchase stage 2. I got mine for $640 dollars out the door. Install the injectors yourself (took me like 40min cause I was being slow) then take it in for the reflash. Should be like 1hr install time roughly $80-$90 an hour depending on the dealer. Then save up for the pulley install because it might run you like $250-$300 for that install through the dealer but when its all said in done you wont regret it.

I bought stage 2 for $637 plus tax. I installed it myself, drove to the dealership, and they reflashed it. The reflash did not cost me a penny! It comes with the kit, and it's not chargeable! All said and done $637 plus tax equals like $678 total. It will cost more for Stage 1, a smaller pully/hub system, and a larger idler pulley.

This is the second car I have modded, and spending a little extra money upfront, usually goes a long way. So save for a little and get good parts.

Did you do the pulley yourself too? Can the pulley be done without removing the s/c from the car with a puller? I had a Pontiac GP GTP and was able to pull pulley off with SC in the car.

A guy that's a member of the local Mustang club had a BilletFlow puller/installation tool, and he helped me out with the new pulley installation.

The blower comes off real easy. There are 4 main bolts (6mm Hex), two electrical connections (throttle body and the one on top of the blower), serp. belt removal (15mm wrench *see how to section post*), and the intake tube to take off. It's real easy to do. It only took me like 10-15 min being real careful to take it off without scracthing anything in the engine bay. I took it to the guys house where he helped me put on the new pulley, and another 10-15 minutes to get it back on nicely (torque blower bolts to 18 ft. lbs.)

Isn't the stage 1 and stage 2 reflash the same? In canada I can get the stage 1 for 600$ but stage 2 cost 1200$!! The stage 1 and stage 2 reflash have the same part numbers. You should be able to get the stage 1 and get a 3" pully and order the smaller replascement belt from GM and you will have the same thing as a GM stage 2.
