Putting on smaller pulleys

I have a 06 cobalt ss with the gm stage 2 kit and I believe the kit comes with a 3' pulley. my question is how much smaller of a pulley could I put on safely? I ask this cause i heard anything smaller than 2.7 is dangerous without a heat exchanger. Also would going from 3' to 2.7 turn my boost up and would it be worth it? thanks!

I recommend getting the OTTP Stage 1 kit, because you cannot just slap on a smaller pulley without supporting mods. You are going to need 60# injectors, colder plugs, And DEFINITELY a new tune.

stage 2 comes with 42lbs injectors, most people do drop down to a 2.9, but anything lower you will need 60lbs injectors

if you cannot have access to tune your car tho you will need a tune from them. So i would just go this route.
