Question about porting

Does anyone here have a stage 3 or above who has ported the supercharger? I have a CA stage 4 tune and am wondering if porting will benefit performance or just plain mess things up, waste of money, etc. Does porting really make the blower that much louder?? thanks for any comments.

Porting/polishing it will help air flow a little better.
theres silencer holes to the sides of the main opening you can fill in to make it louder.. but i wouldnt recommend it.
plus i would go get a real tune.

my blower is ported and it is alot louder... quicker throttle response, no tuning required, its worth it

louder dosent mean better.

he needs a real tune, instead of the bogus canned crap regardless of wether or not he does the porting.

o.p. mine was ported as well, and i'm definitly not porting the blower on my cobra.

the only real benefit will be in iat2 temps. they might drop 5* or so.

how bout you tell them porting doesn't work
wow.. 25hp on a far superior car.. you can expect to see like 3hp

when did i say it dosent work?

this car and blower are way too weak to see a real performance gain. (5* drop in iat2's will net a few ponies, but not much, and not nearly enough to justify paying someone to do it.) go back and cry to your mechanic about how slow your car is.

no one, to date has proved any gains over porting it. IN FACT, the m90 used on the 04 and newer gtp's actually lose power because of it.

not hp gains, i can have a buddy of mine post the proof of the iat2 drop though. if you must see it. it was only 3-5*F though, not enough to make it worth doing another 7 hour porting on my M112 (probably take me longer since the 112 is bigger)

i can see the iat drop.

i dropped more in 3 hours of work then 7 hours of porting doing other things.

the 112 has a huge gain after porting, it's a gen 3. this is why.

my advice, leave it be.

All, thanks for the advise. I am hear a lot more negatives on porting vs leaving it alone both from this site and other resources. I think I will save the money for something else. I appreciate everyone jumping in on this one
