Question/opinions on ZZP Catted Downpipe

I know I know.... there are lots of threads on this subject of downpipes and so on.... but ive read a lot.... and i really havent gotten all of my answers clarified enough to sell the part for me yet.... so i wanted to make a thread to ask questions and the opinions of those who are SUPERCHARGED..... and have this part installed... or have any experience with it on a SS/SC.

I want the exhaust to be a little bit louder.... and want a little more noise out of the car in general.... it has the stock catback on it.... and stock header/DP.... and it is just too quiet for me. I heard this car when my friend had an aftermarket catback on it... and it was obnoxious loud.... (given that it did not ave a resonator on it)... but still.... not what im looking for. Its my DD... and i want it to stay practical.... but meet my needs.

First, does the CATTED DP from ZZP give the motor enough power/sound to make it worth installing? On top of that.... i want to make sure ill still pass emissions in Illinois with having this installed.

Second....will either the 2.5" or 3" ZZP DP bolt right up to my factory exhaust manifold and exhaust piping? or anyone have any issues installing it? And the 02 snsr bung... whats the benefit of the angled bung versus the normal one? (i do not have a wideband)...

Third, those of you that purchased this... what gaskets did you buy that kept it from leaking? Ii dont want it to be raspy or lost any backpressure from causing a leak.

Thanks for any help you can provide.... much appreciated~

Yes, 2.5" or 3" will bolt right up to the factory exhaust manifold.

Use genuine GM gaskets for a leak proof seal.

You will feel a little bit more power from it, and the exhaust will be a notch louder.

It looks like it would cost me roughly $248 for the catted DP with the angled 02 bung and gaskets.... and the stainless ZZP catback is only $500 or so..... would i be better off just going that route? And would that free up more power than just doing the DP?

I really dont want to spend the money doing both.

There is more restriction in the stock downpipe, than in the catback.

Start with the downpipe. I also recommend you get a high flow exhaust manifold or header.

You are right... this is a general question.... about a performance part.

Is a ZZP DP not a performance part? ugh. There are people like you on every forum. If you are simply going to reply to a thread with IGNORANT BS... then dont reply. Thanks.

actually your main question was about making it louder and not raspy and not about performance so yes you should have posted this B.S. in the general section
your second question was about fitment and not performance you should have posted this B.S. in the general section
same for your third question also

No problemo amigo

P.s. I would really.recommend getting the header/dp package over just a dp. Besides sou.ds and gains alone its worth it for the vband clamp instead of the stupid 3bolt flange

I havent had to pass emissions in IL on this setup yet

The powers good up top

Get an o2 port o doubt it matters which way it is but its always good to have a wideband

I just installed a 3" ZZP catted downpipe over the weekend. The car is stock aside from the 3" ZZP CAI. Now it sounds a little throatier and the butt dyno says it was worth it. I got a 2.5" flange to mate up to the stock catback as well as an extra bung welded on in case I decide to add a wideband later.

Honestly, all your questions would've been answered with a quick search.
If you're not tuning out your rear cat codes, you'd definitely want the angled o2 bung..

My friend has a stock header/catback with catted 2.5 and it gets raspy in the higher rpms, but I guess has some noise when accelerating. Still pretty quiet, IMO.

Either way, you're doing yourself a favor with a new DP.

I searched a lot and watched a lot of videos.... but most were about catless... a lot were tuned to delete the rear 02... which i dont want to do.... and not a lot of those threads told what the outpur diameter was for stock catback.

You guys have answered most of what i need though.. i think i will order a 3" with 2.5" exit for my stock catback.... with an angled 02 bung.....

I recently installed badmab header and vibrant 2.5 catted dp while keeping stock catback. It still sounds stock just a little louder and only raspy if I rev it in neutral. I'm not sure how much difference there is between zzp catted dp and vibrant. No dyno to show any gains but it feels like it pulls alot harder at higher rpms.

I installed the downpipe a few weeks before I got the header and didn't notice much of a difference in sound. It was slightly louder but not by much. Kind of a hollow gurgly tone. I did notice it was a bit louder at high rpms but not obnoxious.

As for mrbelvedere... When I first joined I actually wanted to lay into him for being an internet tough guy but quickly learned that all of the stuff he says is true! He may be a little abrasive but the guy knows his ****. Reading the stuff he has posted kept me from asking questions that had been answered many times before. Pretty sure some of his posts have prevented me from blowing my car up!
