question... please no flaming
now the reason you dont need to do this with a supercharger is 1) the rotors are as slow as they will get when you bring the motor to idle, 2) the oil is only there for lubricating the gears and front bearing in the blower, not to cool it, and 3) the blower doesnt get so hot it will bake the oil. a turbo can have 1500+ degrees of exhaust gas flowing through it, it gets extremly hot, to the point were the oil in it will break down (as already mentioned). a supercharger doesnt get that hot, if it gets above 180 degrees you have problems.
i know when i'm sitting in traffic my coolant temp will go above 180... but as soon as i start to roll again she drops down to normal operating temp of 174... but thats just the coolant. they should have a gauge for s/c temp internally...
As stated, Its to keep the oil flowing and allow the turbo to cool down some, Other wise the hot oil will bake to everything and screw all kinds off stuff up over time.
Turbos get insanely hot compared to our superchargers.
I can let my talon idle for 20 min and shut it off and the exhaust side and center cartridge of the turbo is hot enough to sizzle your skin straight off vs. the cobalt i can go beat on for 30 mins and still hold my hand on the supercharger for a few mins

haha wow never seen mine stay at that temp im always at 190+ darn your cool runninh superchargers haha!
i dont get on the motor or s/c unless i'm racing or passing a jersey driver. i guess the guy prior to me put on a cooler tstat? idk what a 100% factory ss/sc runs at. like for instance on the way to work this morning on the turnpike. i was doing 70 cruise control and my coolant temp STAYED at 176. did not raise one bit.
no your running at the stock tstat temp.
stock balts run from 170 - 210.
i run 174 as well.
well, lately i have... summer time im at 180
