Rainy day Problem

When it starts to rain I get a problem with the balt. The more it rains the worse it gets. I don't drive through standing water, even if it just sits in a parking lot for 10 hours the problem still exists until the weather gets better...

Problem: Car isn't getting "quality" air, well I assume this is the problem. Only when it rains I am only allowed to go a certain amount of RPMs before she bogs down. I mean really bog down, Wide band will jump from 10-16 about 9 times and once I let off the throttle it normals out. This has happened the last 3 rain storms we have had. Anyone else experience this issue? I just order the Hydrashield for the Injen intake. hopefully that will help solve the problem.

its probably because you are using an oiled air filter....remember oil and water dont mix and they will cause major MAF sensor problems

Car does bog down. REALLY BAD...

I don't think it's the actual "intake"

Water / oil only mix when you dink a glass after the girl uses oils to give me a massage

Should I clean the TB out? It's going to get reaplced by LS4 in a half a year. I'm hoping not to drive in tomany rain storms. Will the Hydro shield help?

Don't rule out an ignition issue, could be losing spark from moisture in near the coils and boots. Check both the coils and boots for signs of moisture and look for any cracks in the rubber or plastic of the housings.

That was the 2nd thing I checked. I had a similar problem with my Mustang. Water was getting past a hose it shouldn't.

I had a similar problem when my engine was cold but it ran fine when it warmed up so I took my injen airfilter off and there was water dripping off the maf sensor, I was afraid of having this problem so I avoided all standing water but it still happened. I discovered that the water was getting in between the wheel splash shield and the body, used some duck tape and plati dip and sealed it up no problems since. I know this isn't a permanent solution but removing the cai every time its going to rain would suck. Hope this helps ya out

BTW I have heard of ppl having problems with injen's oiled filters but this is the only problem I've had in the 4+ months its been on... Not a single Check engine light

I don't car if u have a airbox or a Cai with or without hydrashield.this. should be Ure first step when diagnosing issues when rain or humidity occurs. U can be sucking up water / humidity and it'll hit the maf. Causing it to go rich or lean ......

I do think everyone seems to agree it's the MAF getting wet. I'll take a look at it next time Ima run her in the rain and pull into a garage and take it apart. Ima toss on the Hydrashield and see if it helps resolve the problem. Car already runs rich, Air intake, header, DP, and exhaust, with no tune. BTW SS3 you ever tune a TVS before?

Actually, you've got it backwards. Oiled filters will repel water, Injen intakes used to come with oiled K&N style filters - I believe they now come with dry synthetic filters.

OP if you have the new Injen you should switch to a proper oiled gauze filter or get a hydroshield.

I had maf issues starting last winter for some reason. I was logging when this happened as well. Was driving down the road no rain or snow and the car would drive normal. All of a sudden it would start to snow and the car would almost instantly start bogging and act crazy. Could barely give it any gas, actually had to pull over constantly and attempt to get it started again. AFR all over the place and the maf sensor was going horribly up and down.

Took two sensors and making sure it was sealed up nice underneath to fix my issue. Slapped a new finger on it as well.

I washed my car the other day with no front bumper on and boy was I suprised what I saw !
Water runs down a channel in the unibody by the hood and comes out the cutout pictured.
It pours out alot of water right where the air filter is in the wheel well.
CAN'T BE GOOD !
