anything past 7200 id be putting valve springs in it, cams start fallout off around that rpm as well, to make power higher you will need something better. 7500 rpm is the max for the stock balance shafts, anything higher (or even running to 7500rpm) and id be putting neutral balance shafts or the level zero balance shaft delete kit in.

7500 here and no problems. power doesn't drop off while up there with the tune, but it isn't increasing either. only reason i have it up there is for what stu sorta explained. allows you to be higher up in the rpm range when you shift in to 2nd instead of being a lot lower with the 6500 or even 7000 limit. it also keeps you in third while you cross the line

letting go as in wanting to slip? thats interesting. cause i'm still on the stock clutch, but its my tires that want to start spinning, not the clutch. granted i'm on street tires and you actually have traction with the dr's haha

I think he's talking about the clutch wanting to stay open from the centrifical force. When i used to try and shift 2nd in my 72 Nova SS the clutch would wanna hang anything over 6000 rpm . I ended up putting an LS6 Disc and pressure plate in and it stopped doing it.

It's weird thou , you let off the clutch and it would feel like you missed the gear until the rpm's fell down to around 4500 then it would grab. Thank god for MSD or my old 427 would have been hurt more than once.

no...

not letting go as in the car doesnt want to make the change at that high of an RPM. this could be due to the tranny fluid i had in it. i will test it again
