Stage 2 kit dealership bull

Hi guys new to the site, I have an 2007 Cobalt and was looking to get a stage 2 kit. I live in Louisville and dealerships around here have really tried to dick me around. I was first told a stage 2 kit would have it own 1 yr or 12,000 mile warranty. Althought I thought I read on here that it wouldn't void your current warrenty. Then today when I called they stated that the kit has been discounted. I figure this is bull so just wondering what I should do to get one thanks.

the kit does have its own 1/12k warrenty, but thats on the kit itself. your car will still have its warrenty, and they cant deny a warrenty claim because of the kit.

If you haven't done so yet, look into purchasing the following things. Injectors, a tune, and a smaller pulley. If you read up on these forums you will save yourself a lot of money, and you will have a quicker more reliable car.

The kit is back in stock as of about 2 weeks ago. Have the dealer check availability again, there was a parts shortage and a supplier issue.

Or just order it from Crate Engine Depot he has them in Stock. As for the warranty, the kit is sold as a GM Accessory and it is covered under full warranty. Have them pull up this Dealer Bulletin:

#02-00-89-014E: New Labor Operation Codes for Dealer-Installed GM Accessories Replaced During Warranty Coverage Period - (Aug 27, 2008)

Subject: New Labor Operation Codes for Dealer-Installed GM Accessories Replaced During Warranty Coverage Period

Models: 2009 and Prior GM Passenger Cars and Trucks

2003-2009 HUMMER H2

2006-2009 HUMMER H3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2009 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-00-89-014D (Section 00 - General Information).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important: Labor operations in this bulletin are also available in the Labor Time Guide (LTG) .

U.S. Dealers: To review these labor operations, select the following categories from the LTG main menu: Preface > Preface > Introduction > Dealer Installed GM Accessories or by typing "Accessories" into the keyword search field.

Canadian Dealers: To review these labor operations, build the vehicle, select the Reference icon, then select Forwards from the left menu and scroll to Dealer Installed GM Accessories .

Under the guidelines for GM Parts Warranties, all GM Accessories sold and permanently installed on a GM vehicle PRIOR to new vehicle delivery will be covered under the provisions of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

For the U.S., in the event GM Accessories are installed AFTER new vehicle delivery, or are replaced under the new vehicle warranty, they will be covered (parts and labor) for the balance of the vehicle warranty, but in no event less than 12 months/12,000 miles.

For Canada, in the event GM Accessories are installed AFTER new vehicle delivery, they will be covered (parts and labor) for the balance of the vehicle warranty, or up to 12 months/unlimited kilometers depending on month installed. For replacement after the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, but within the 12 months/unlimited kilometers coverage, refer to claim type "B" guidelines.

Just a little extra for now, say 240 or 250 if possible. But keep the warranty and still have a reliable car.

then stage 2 is ideal for you imo. your looking for a lil more oomph but still get mpg, warranty and reliabililty. yes its kinda expensive but your not looking for a set up to put the car on kill and go run the car hard a lot. so itll be good for you. again this is my opinion

See that's the thing I don't race. I've never took any care I drove to the track. I've only had a hand fully of people even roll up to me on the street. So I'm much bigger on reliability and warranty. But I do want a little extra fun if it works out for me. I'm thinking more and more that stage 2 is going to be way for me to go.

In my opinion, GM stage 2 is too expensive and you could get another kit for a lot less. But if wanna keep the car as a daily driver and be under warranty then get the GM kit. You could always buy the kit online and have the dealer install it. Check here

If you don't race at the track (I haven't been there myself in over 2 years) and you are big on reliability and warranty, then Stage 2 is your only option.

That's what I chose, and I've never looked back.

I paid $550 for the Stage 2 kit about a year and a half ago from CrateEngineDepot and had a local dealer install it for $400. But I see from the Depot's web site that the kit is now going for $656. Oh well, guess things go up over time.

Good Luck!

smaller pulley, bigger injectors, shorter belt, and a GM reflash of the ecu.
