Rebuilding a purchased LSJ
I got ahold of a 07 cobalt SS with the LSJ, was already torn apart when i got the car. Every valve was bent timing chaing failure. I ordered a complete timing set, got the head rebuilt, checked, surfaced and had new valve guides installed. Put the head on last night, cylinders look great, bottom end seems good.
I timed the balance shafts with a new gear on the crank with the complete kit I lined the arrows on the gears on the shafts with the marks on the chain and the lower gear on the crank the plated link to the dot, that was straight forward, got the timing info from alldata and have it ready, but i have a broken bolt i missed on the top behind the access plug for the top bolt on the black chain guide, will drill that tonight and remove it.
I have 2 questions,
The bearing caps were off the head allready, i work for chrysler and build engines on them for work all the time. I know the arrow on the cap faces the front of the engine, but unlike ours that are numbered with Intake and exhaust markings, these are not. So where does #1 start, and what order should they be installed on the head.
Also the factory cams were off the car. They have numbers on them but ive searched, and searched, and searched some more, can not find any info on what cam is exhaust and what one is intake (factory cams) Ours have an I or and E on them, these do not.
Could someone help me out with this info so i can get this thing together and see how she runs?
Thanks in advanced.
