This thread is already being very helpful. I just installed a Spec flywheel and Spec stage 3+ clutch. Just finished reassembling the car and went to start it. I have the same message on the DIC. I'm going to check the TB connector tomorrow since I did pull the TB for more access to the top of the tranny and let you know all how it all works out. Thank you very much.

That'll do it

I was gonna say, pull the intake and look inside the TB, if its not moving at all, like the motro went bad, it would also throw that code. Glad you fixed it.

How did you get paper in the intake anyway?

wow, a sticker in the intake... ******* ay, the irony kills me! you swapped air filters, which well, filter the air! and instead got a huge sticker to land in the TB. please, be careful!

all joking aside, to those that have the dreaded engine power reduced... do the simple stuff first! yea, you can check the plugs, but last time i checked, plugs go bad and give shitty gas mileage returns, way before they just go ahead and crap out all together. besides, the post said engine power reduced and p2101...

i had the exact same problem. what happens is the computer reads the circuit that controls the throttle plate, which is the TAC Motor, aka throttle actuator control motor. the sensor that reads throttle position is the tps, throttle position sensor. in the following example, say you want WOT, so you floor the car, yay. WHAM... the car bucks badly and engine power reduced is the result. perhaps you cleaned ur throttle body, or, in this case, changed the intake it and got a sticker in it...

the tps says "ok, we're at 60% open! wooohoo passing gear time!" and the computer is all like "uh, WTF throttle plate... the driver wants 100%, the tps says your 60% open, i'm tellin the TAC motor to make ya go to 100% wide open throttle, and your not where we are telling you to be! are you stuck? do you have a sticker in the way? is the motor controlling you burnt out?" etc. something throttle-position related is out of sync with the computer's commands, so the car defaults to a craptastic mode we know as engine power reduced. the car gets a preset A/F ratio, deactivates 2 cylinders via limiting spark, and just runs like ****, but it runs. it thinks it cant runnormally, because the controls are not working within the proper limits.

anytime any1 ever gets engine power reduced, check the tac motor wire harness, it's under the throttle body, wiggle it while it's idling to see if the problem goes away. if not, remove the TB, clean it with TB cleaner (carefully... don't unnecessarily move the throttle plate, it's spring loaded, expensive, and all one part... over $300 for mine, but it's under warranty.) and check the connectors on the male and female end. click it back in place thoroughly so it doesn't move, then reinstall the TB. it's super easy, just g2 loosen the 2 hose clamps for the intake, move it out the way, and unbolt 4 bolts for the TB. problem is most likely solved... if not, the TAC motor could be bad so like i said above the whole TB needs replacement, or perhaps it is bad wiring, etc. if any1 needs it i have a mitchellondemand account, i'll pull up the diagnosis routine for this exact error on our cars, i'd do it now but it's 2:40 am and i just got back from nighttime skiing for 9 hours.

clean the TB every time you change your oil, it's good practice... if your a leadfoot like me, it's just good maintenance. i mean, it is what you're primarily controlling with that right foot of yours!!!

Okay, so here is my problem. I just swapped out the OE clutch and flywheel and installed a Spec flywheel and stage 3+ clutch. For some reason my brother removed the TB because he said it was in his way. Anyways, the car is back together now. We went to fire it up last night and you would hear the starter doing its job cranking, but the engine would not turn over. So we thought there was a loose connection. We checked everything. Still the same result. I came here and read about this. So I checked the TB wire harness tonight. Everything is fine. Tried to start the car. Same result. I won't have access to a scanner until tomorrow. Therefore, I don't know what DTC I would be getting. If possible, I'd like to get this resolved asap.

So, what do you guys think it is? I spent 2 weeks replacing the clutch because I didn't have much time to commit each day. The car had 1/8 tank of gas when I started the project. It is on level ground. My bro is telling me that the fuel may have gone stale or that the battery could have lost some of its power because it sat for 2 weeks with only a positive connection connected to it. Would a jump start or trying to use starting fluid work? I'm really in a tight bind and need to get this car running again because I'm moving cross country in 10 days.
