Rev limiter: Hard to avoid
Rev limiter: Hard to avoid
Am I the only one that finds when youre out pushing the car, its almost impossible to not hit the rev limiter?.. I love to go fast, and I feel the car gaining power so much after 5500RPMs, and next thing I know... Im on the limiter.
Am I the only that finds the limiter easy to hit?

Isn't the issue mostly due to the fact that the tach can't keep up with the engine in 1st gear??
Ion Redlines have the same problem, 1st gear is so short that the tach lags a few hundred RPM behind the engine under WOT.
Perhaps GM will release a reflash to fix the issue. Obviously everythings electronicaly controlled, so you'd think it'd be an easy fix.

Mines redline at 6750--I think the fuel shutoff is 6800rpm. Too close.
The car is pulling pretty good way up there---sometimes i want a 6750rpm shift but I am fractionaly late and BAM---rev limiter
Like to get rid of that.
I was refering to my 2.4L SS---my bad. Still the rev limiter is annoying

If you're trying to compensate for the slow tach, try shifting right at 6500 RPM. Since the tach is a couple hundred RPM behind the engine, you will actually be shifting at about 6700-6800, which is right before the rev limiter. That will give you the best performance and you'll be at a higher RPM after you upshift

i thought they set it to 9000rpm and installed naaaaaws and gave you a russian mailorder bride to press the button ? Do we still get the Type-R sticker too?
we need to get some clarification on this asap!
I find it's easier to avoid the rev limiter if you shift first gear by sound and feel rather than try to do it visually. I'm usually pretty close when I check how close I was when I shifted. When I try to do it visually, if I don't really focus on the tach, I hit the limiter. I should be focusing more on the road, so I do it by feel and sound.
