Saab Valves for LSJ?

i searched the part numbers for the valves, and it looks like some saab valves share the same part number. No surprise since the car uses a Saab head.

Exhaust valve - 12791961
Intake valve - 12786696

It also seems the saab valves are ridiculously cheaper. Does anyone know if these are the same valves? The saab ones im seeing are made by a company called Osvat. The exhaust valves are supposed to be sodium filled, and so far, there is no description of the material on these osvat saab valves for sale.

edit: well apparently this osvat company is an aftermarket manufacturer, so nevermind about this thread :P. Although, any suggestions on where to get the cheapest oem valves?

The supertech valves don't bend, and the exhaust valves aren't sodium filled. Can you comment on the Ferrea valves in comparison? I'm also looking for something that wont change the flow characteristics of the head.

oh cool read somewhere they were the same molds. that had to be some bs, because an investment casting requires different sand to allow the foam or wax to permeate not to mention the different flow that results.

LSJ is basically a complete Saab B207 engine (mechanically), minus the turbo.
Differences in the head are the cams (turbo vs SC), the cam sprockets and the LSJ head has M8 studs to hold the SC inlet manifold.
(You will find a Saab casting mark on your LSJ head... )

GM 2.2 is all lost foam casting.
LSJ is the same lost foam casting engine block with Saab 2.0 crank, rods and pistons. And uses the sandcast Saab head with sodium filled valves etc.

the valves arent sodium filled

but you were correct the lsj head is sand cast i forgot that they first used the 2.2 head and it wouldent hold up as they were pulling oil through the casting i do know that the intake manifold bolt holes on the lk9 head are smaller then on the lsj so its not a direct swap

U are talking about the LK9 right, because the exhaust valves on the LSJ are sodium filled.

I just want to clear this up so there is no confusion for anyone else who doesnt know this.

We have all these heads here. LSJ and Saab are using the same valves. LNF uses slightly different valves but they are fully interchangeable. LNF valves weigh a tick more, possibly different metal. I have never seen a valve fail so I don't think using any valve LSJ, LNF, Saab in any application would make a difference.

we haven't cut any of them apart but none appear to be sodium filled at first glance.

the valves in the lsj are not sodium this disscusion was had many years ago because of missinformation that was put out in a magazine article if i remember correctly they weighed them against a 2.2 valve and they weighed the same and i think someone cut one in two and it was a solid stem all of the sodium filled valves i have seen were 2 piece valves but that was decades ago

Well that is news to me....

I could have sworn I even read that in the build book.

Good to know though.
