A sad story of stripped threads
The real problem is if trying to prove to GM that the NGK is a stock plug because their computers just won't show it, and they have to go by what the computers say. They won't listen to a Hayne's manual, or a bunch of people on a forum, or even an NGK tech, only the computers and the computers tell them that the AC Delco is the stock plug.
Anyway, I'm lucky this worked out in my favor in the end - hope no one else has to deal with similar BS.
any aftermarket warranty would do the same thing if they were told that aftermarket plugs were removed. Ryan and GMPP are warranty pay with all the crud. Fidelity pays CP prices but they still smoke pole after last week. I did an oil pan gasket on an AWD equinox, well dude, i had to pull the transfer cas and drop the subframe, starter, and compresser and the rear axle just fell apart after i tapped the side to loosen it and fidelity says, well we can pay for the axle but your puttin it in for free. well WTF!
But glad it worked out dude!

I'm glad it got all worked out for you man! I'm about to get into a fight with my dealer here too on Monday and I'm looking for help as to what to say to them. So I bought my car back in 06 with 5k miles on it. It now has 57k miles on it and it started sputtering really bad yesterday. So I pulled into the next parking lot I saw and me and a buddy checked the spark plugs. Well, the number 3 plug came with the coil and the head was stripped where the spark plug would go. So I had it towed to the dealer that usually does all of the service on my car and I have to wait til Monday for them to diagnose the problem. The thing is, my warranty was up at 36k miles so I'm thinkin they're probably going to try and screw me. How do I go about arguing with them because I have never changed the spark plugs and I don't see how aggressive driving would cause this to happen? (I'm kinda dumb when it comes to car stuff but I'm a newlywed and we really don't have money to have them fix this). Please help!

If the dealer tries to tell you that you have after market NGKs instead of stock AC Delco plugs, you need to do check the date code which is embossed on the hex of the spark plug. There should be four characters there and the second one is the number that reflects the manufacturing date of the plug. I can't remember the exact code now but the engineers over at NGK should be able to help you - call the technical support number on their site and explain your problem to them. Basically, you're trying to confirm that the spark plug is as old or older than the year your cobalt was manufactured.
Hope this helps, all the best with your problem.
man look im a tech. I had a buddy come in with his Ion redline same thing happened. Its usually always the number three plug as well. Carquest has a heli coil kit for 45 dollars. We call the dealer first to get one and they were like WTF? So i got it from carquest. If youve never done one before i would reccomend a professional doing it because if not done right the next time you change ur plugs the heli coil may come out with it. Its a cheap NICE kit and any mechanic can do it and at most charge you an hour labor. So your realistically looking at about 150 bucks. And my buddy daniel is a member on here the redline i fixed his car runs excellent
Wish i would have seen this . I can give you the Gm service info page that shows the Pfr6t number. Take the document ID number with you when you go .

This may sound like a dumb question, but I just realized that my car came with a 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty...Is the head part of the drivetrain? Because if it is, then the warranty would cover it. Am I correct? I apologize, but I'm pretty ignorant of this stuff. It would sem that the head would be included in the drivetrain. Someone please let me know if I'm correct.
