Safe to use a 2.7 pulley without cooling mods?

Sorry if this has been posted, im on my cell phone and it wont let me search.. Im going to be buying flow matched 60's, getting a smaller pulley and getting tuned.. Would a 2.7 be safe to use without me breaking something? As of right now, i only have the gmpp exhaust, rebel CAI and an ingalls td. Thanks guys..

there are members that have run the 2.7 for a while with no problems, they didnt have cooling mods. just get an interceptor and monitor your temps. you can make some pulls but i wouldnt do them back to back. so, your fine to run the 2.7 without cooling mods as some others might disagree because they are thinking on a WOT basis. so go for it. just be easy on the gas pedal

a 2.9 isn't even recommended without cooling mods. You can do gm stage 2 without cooling mods, but you'll get more out of it with cooling mods.

I'm still on stock pulley and have seen AMAZING results with cooling mods and tuning. I'm still doing MORE cooling mods and I am finally adding a few bolt ons when I get back from deployment.

I can't believe all the people that just want to throw a pulley on and they think they'll be faster. LOL. Get cooling mods FIRST! then throw a pulley on and make some real power. NEWBS!

x2 ...cooling mods make the most of what you have...you can have all the psi in the world, but its about density, thats what gives you afr's and allows you to dump a ton of fuel in the cylinder and make power!

The simple answer is yes, you can use a 2.7 and 60's and be safe. Now, this is considering that you're not constantly racing the car and always on the throttle. It needs time to cool down and heavy racing won't allow the stock heat exchanger to work efficiently.

Are cooling mods absolutely necessary? no

Would it be wiser to add an additional heat exchanger? yes

I'd stick with an additional heat exchanger over meth though.

I am running a 2.6 pulley without cooling mods and I have had no problems, just be easy on it UNTIL you do.. My meth is on the way as well as a dual pass, but still. you will have no problems with it if you don't drive like a moron.. Also.. Expect to get pulled by a stage 2 balt or redline with your mods up top.. it happens.. You will heatsoak like crazy :P

Up to you.

yes youll be ok but you can only do one pull then you got to wait like 10 minutes...and one pull meaning one gear...you cant hit 2nd then 3rd then 4th...that would be bad...also alot of people dont know this but you can not floor it under 3500rpm with a 2.7 in pulley...u must down shift....so that means you have a dead spot under 40 if your already moving...cus u cant down shift to 1st at 25 30 mph....just something to keep in mind....also u must get headers and dp if your going to run 2.7...u must get that first...

this is sound advice

anyway
thats in Arizona invisible...
I made about 6 runs at MIR(Maryland) and the highest IAT2 temp I saw going across the line was 180. I'll see if I can pull the log off my laptop to verify.

this is just some bullshit that someone made up when the car came out, it's not dyno proven.

with no cooling mods, you'll lose power. With cooling mods, you'll need to dyno to find out. Every car is different and depending on what your other mods are your gains will be different.
