Uhmmmmm .... go to the SEMA sight and you can read up on it. By the way GM supports this information provided by SEMA.

Basically if you put on a part and it is proven to be the cause of failure of another part then GM has every right to not cover that particular breakdown.

My mods are
K&N intake, GM stage 2, 1 step colder plugs, Catt back, and PB 2.8. I tried puting the stock plugs back in but I replaced them to try to fix the problem in the first place. I reset the gap on them to .37 and even tried .40 and nothing helped.

Im seeing about 17.5 PSI max right now.

Ok now my problem

At WOT in any gear some times the car will miss just for a sec and then go agen like nothing ever happend.
And every now and then I will start the car and it will stall right away. After that the car will restart but it will run like its only running on 2 cylinders????? WTF!!!
If I shut it off and let it sit for a few min with the Key off it will run fine. If I let it run it will run like that untill I shut the key off for a few min. Even if I stall it and restart it. If the key was not turned off it will run like crap!

And I have to clean the black crap off my bumper ever 3 days!!!!!!!! 3 Fing days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

The dealer ses theres nothing wrong with it and that the car runs fine for them?????

I give up.

Your experiencing Limp Mode. It happened to me only once. Get a reflash for stage 2. Yours may not have taken. It is supposed to help with these problems.

As for Stage 2 with 2.8 pulley. you could very easily be in the same boat that the reflash did not work correctly.

I was thinking the same thing but the car ran fine for several months and then one day it went all stupid on me.

It only misses every now and then. It has only happend like 6 times in about 6K.

And the runing on 2 cylinders thing is screwy becouse it dosnt throw a code and it will run fine if shut off and left alone for a few min?

But why is the thing runing so rich? My freinds said there is a black cloud comeing out the back of my car at WOT. And I have to clean that crap off my car every 3-4 days????

Im not over boosting so my catt should still be good at this point. But Im not sure.

The car threw a code and went in to limp mode one time befor and I had to take it to the dealer. It was just a lose plug but it still ran smooth it just didnt have any power.

Even with the poly mounts my motor is dancing when its missing like its runing on 2 cylinders. And it only dose it below 3k. If I tac it out it smothes out. But I can move the car like that becouse it will just stall out.

I hate stealerships! They dont know **** and there proud of it!!!!!

I use NGK BKR7E gapped at .040
my mods are in my signature

Anyone ever had some of these problems ??
Where should i start looking for the problems ??

Any help or comment is greatly appreciate
i hate to have a 2006 car running worse than my old 350 4bbl 1985 Z28

Thanks

gapping your plugs at .04 is too big, you should gap them @ .035". Unplug your battery, remove your plugs, regap them @ .035", give it about 3 min before hooking battery back up, then plug her in and run it.

I would agree, I like .035, but under the advice of 2 seperate NGK guys, i'm going to try
.032. They INSIST it will clear any upper rpm misfire, due to the fact that with the extra air being forced in with the smaller pulley, a set of IX's one step colder @ .032 leaves no chance of the spark being prematurely blown out.

Is there any CEL reading device for sale in any auto parts store,
because i think i'll need it often
I first wanna check if the problem is from the MAF before take it to the dealer
I don't want to remove my CAI to clean the MAF if the problem comes from elsewhere

Finding out the code will give an idea of what to start looking at.

I know enough people running 2.8 or 2.7's with the GM tune with no problems. I would say it's something else, as others said just swap the pulley and take it in.

How do get a reflash? Do you have to pay for it?

I talked to Tim at zzperformance about putting a 2.8 pulley on with the gm stage2 kit. He said not to put on a 2.8 UNLESS you have a aftermarket header and downpipe. The reason being is your making more boost with the smaller pulley but you can't exit the exhaust fast enough with a gm header on. So he said its pretty much pointless to change the pulley.

Exactly, a 2.8" with full exhaust is the key. Any smaller than 2.8 and start running into cooling issues under heavy WOT!

Thats not true, i had a 2.7" pulley on mine and i had very good cooling at wot on the dyno and driving around in traffic. It doesn't cool as good as stock but it still cools well.

I had this same exact thing happen to me. It's definately the cat going bye bye, and the plugs are another issue. My car doesn't like the NGK's gapped at .040, so i'll have to try something different when I get home in a few months!

I'm running a 2.9" with GM stage 1. BK7REs gapped to .35

Anyway, my questions are:

1.) Will a highflow cat. downpipe remedy the cat. clogging problem?

2.) If #1 won't work, how about a downpipe with no cat.?

3.) Is there any other way besides HPTuners, to prevent throwing a code becaue the cat. is gone? (like the sensor plug-in made for Mustangs).

Thanks,
Chris-

I have the same problem i have stage 2 w/ pb 2.8 pulley and injen intake.. I am running 18lbs of boost but it dont seem as fast as it should be.. Everyone says im blowing out black smoke when i nail it.. Throttle response doesnt feel right, im hoping a gutted out cat, gapped spark plugs and tuning will solve all of this. Course my clutch is playing into this its slipping bad. I only beat a stock ss/c by two car lengths from the dig
