shorty vs midlength header??
shorty vs midlength header??
lookin for some advise.
I currently am running 60's, 2.6, zzp tune, GMPP exhaust, HF 3"dp, ZZP shorty header, water/meth. Is there any advantage to switching to a mid-length header such as the ZZP or CTI? I have to replace my POS random tech dp (cracked open again) so I am considering just replacing it with the CTI HF DP or just going over to the mid lengths. Big price difference though. anyone??
thanks

$400 for a header and a downpipe with options. I think they max at $500 after shipping, ceramic coating, all stainless, and a cat., assuming were talking the ZZP midelngth. Im sure the others are similar
We just got done comparing the shorty and downpipe to the mid length on a 2.4 and it was worth decent torque and a little HP. I'm not sure how the boosted cars would fair.
yea the gain is worth it. i went from a tog shorty header to a clear image stainless midlength, huge difference overall. the biggest change was the low rpm torque gain and how smooth the powerband got. with the shorty it would be a dog till it hit about 3500rpm and then felt like a turbo spooling, it would then take off. with the mid length, i can step on it at 2000rpm and it just takes right off. high end power is better aswell. also at lighter throttle i dont have to downshift when going up a hill. top it off with an increase in fuel milage as an added bonus.
go mid length, you wont regret it.

Same setup I have for my car, and I must say it was the best thing I have ever done to the car, its so much more drivable now, and as you said, I find myself having to downshift less. Click on my signature for a link. Clear Image FTW!!!
