Simple Question
Simple Question
On a Gm stage 2 is it common to get boost bleed. I just noticed the other day that i hit 15psi like i should, but once i start getting close to redline 5500 or so i start to bleed down to 10psi or so. The bad thing is i cant remember noticing this before. I just would like to know if this is common\correct\normal or should i have the dealer look at the car.
yea but doesn't the bypass mod prevent the system from bleeding off boost??? i kno the car runs 12.5 stock but when you get a pulley and so it'll get more and get boost quickly so just doing the GM Stage 2 means it'll hold 15 or so psi all the way to redline???
it will hold 15psi minimum, but should reach peak boost by redline...which is around 16psi or so
I have 15psi max with stg2. In an other thread that I initiated, you can get more psi but need smaller pulley than the one coming with stg2. as for bleeding, I guess it also depends on the external temperature... but rarely do I go above 15psi if almost never..
check for belt slip.
if your "peaking" then dropping boost as the rev's climb, as the loads on the blower increase(thus forces against the belt) its a common sign of the belt slipping. you might not even hear anything while its happening.
snag a new belt for a few $$$ and slap that on, i bet your issues will go away.

It is probably belt slip, but it could be knock or abuse settings as well. I know the Stage 2 does not bleed boost unless your IAT is too high, abuse is detected (transmission or engine) or engine coolant temps are too high.
How would another stage 2 belt help me if this belt is slipping. Plus this will do it all the time i can start the car up and it will bleed off boost or i can do it after ive been driving for awhile and it will still do it. so i dont think the abuse thing is the answer. is there any chance my cold air could be clogged with snow or ice or something since we did just get alot of snow and crap this week and i had to drive in it
The belt may have been damaged or gotten crap on it when the stage 2 was installed. If so, replacing it will fix the problem. Maybe, they didn't even put the stage 2 belt on so you are still on the stock belt - where did you have the stage 2 installed or did you do it yourself? If you had a dealership do it did you get back the old parts? I made sure to tell them I wanted all the old parts back so I could be sure they did everything they were supposed to.
If it isn't the belt then it is more then likely the PCM pulling the boost for some reason. It could be that the cold air is clogged - but it could be excessive knock or one of the injectors is going static. It could be your spark plugs as well. You are going to have to just start checking your air filter and plugs and go from there.

look, eaither get another stg2 belt(not the best idea) OR be smart, get a STOCK belt and a 76mm idler pulley.
put pulley on, then apply stock belt, thus giveing you a greater then stock tension. for example.
a 2.7 Billet flow pulley with a 76mm idler and a stock belt retains stock belt tension, so if your at a 2.8/2.9 your going to have a bit more tension on there so you'll at least be able to rule out this if it doesn't fix the issue.
we had vary similar symptoms on a local car and this was the fix.
yeah they told me they reflashed it put it that way. I keep getting a rich CEL. Is there anychance it could have something to do with the MAF i was driving in some snow and ice the other day and it was pretty deep. Could I have crudded up my MAF or clogged up my air filter.
