slvr 04 rl turbo build
slvr 04 rl turbo build
well the time has come and my car is about done. as of right now the car is at the shop having the intercooler piping made. ill post finished pictures when i get it back which should be this coming week.
this custom kit took alot of modifing just to get it to fit right. i bought the kit from USMCfield. here is what the kit consit of...
persicion 5031
vulcan tubular exhaust manifold
vulcan intake manifold(modified)
custom catless downpipe
HKS super sequenctial blow off valve
not sure of the wastegate. looks like a knock off
blox manual boost controller
cx racing intercooler
custom intercooler piping(getting done by CMS performance)
im sure in forgeting things but you get the jist of it.
anyways, here are some pictures.
freshly rebuilt turbo by thirdcoast turbos.

exhaust manifold

turbo bolted on

see how close it is to the speed sensor. also had to cut up my rear trans mount to get the downpipe in and modify the heat core hose so the wastegate could fit.

the vulcan intake manifold was garbage. but i got a good deal on it(i think lol) it didnt fit correctly, had to open the holes to bolt it to the head. the welds covered the holes to screw the throttle body in and i didnt like how they put all the fittings on top of the manifold so alot of modifing was done.
now you seem them...

....now you dont...

under the manifold.

thats a ZZP map pad. since the manifold doesnt house the sensors in them.

inside..

one thing that shouldnt have givin me a problem but did since the shop i had weld my fitting into the oil pan sucks. i had to pull it all back off again and redo it differntly.
crap welds and so the grinded them down and nicked the fitting so that was leaking, as well as there crappy weld was leaking.

so new oil drain set up.

baby intercooler.

i will post more pictures when i get it back.

I've heard fuel cuts off around 350 hp on the stock fuel system, so at least the rsfs would help. It would also make tuning easier as well. It's up to you to put in the fuel pump, but I would just stash that in the closet for whenever the stock one goes. That's just my .02
problem
alright, i got the car back yesterday and when i was driving it, it was smoking really bad. i found the oil feed line was leaking. i fixed that and it was still smoking, i figured it was the oil burning off. well its coming though the exhaust tip so im guessing the oil is getting back up into the turbo and coming through the exhaust. any one have an idea of fixing this? im thinking about mounting a scavenger pump to pull the oil through.
its a journal bearing turbo so people said i didnt need one. its a 4an feed and a 10an drain. i couldnt get a picture of the feed, but its short and i dont think there is a kink in it. and did you see the pictures? there is no kink in the return, but the way it set up had me iffy on doing it, but its the only way the return could be set up.

the piping is 2.5 hotside and full 3 inch cold side piping. the welds on the blow off flange dont look too good. and thats because i got a CAST aluminum and its not pure.oh well. you cant see it lol

this just shows how tight everything is in the back. i had to cut a chunk out of the bracket to get the down pipe to fit.

and this is something i rigged up to keep the crank case pressure down. i dont think the oil is draining fast enough and blowing smoke through the tail pipe
You know you can hook that to your intake manifold as long as your put a catch can on it and also put a check valve inline to the manifold. So once you come in to boost it will shut and as soon as you let off it will pull full vac on the case. Looks good man hopefully this weekend or next week I will have free time so we can get your car all tuned up.
