tire spin & overboost?

Hey guys, just got my stage 2 finished up. Only mods I have are airbox mod and gm stage 2 with the 42# and 77.9mm pulley + a reflash. the tempurature here since i've gotten it finished up has been between about 38-50 degrees. was just curious on a few things. One i'm hitting psi numbers as high as the big notch between 15 and 20 psi so i'm assuming probably about 17.5 psi? Was just wondering if that had to do with the cold air. Also If i punch it going anywhere around the speeds of like 35-45 mph my tires tend to break loose some, what are some things i can do to resolve the tire spin so i hook up good and go! other than obviously better tires, but also what are some better tires?

When i was on gm stage 2 that was my only mod and i was running about 15-16 psi so your psi isnt really high at all. and yes first gear and some of second gear suckkk when it comes to finding traction. i recommend a tune with 50% boost in first gear, motor mounts to avoid wheel hop and i run bf goodrich kdw2 as my tires and they stick to the road really well

u got more power now, cooler temps help

if its breaking loosen then u need to control the trottle and control the boost

pretty much when u punch it in 2nd gear 35-40mph u have to not have the throttle to the floor all the way till u feel the car regain traction......once u do it u will know what i mean

if your clutch slips then u have to figure out what works best, for me on my 2.8 & 60s setup it would either hook or slip going into 2nd and even slipped doing a 3rd gear pull

but idk haha let the car get used to the power and urself

if i go from first to 2nd the tires grab pretty good cause it's building the power. if i punch it already going about 35-40 then the tires wanna break loose some. i would assume thats because it's hitting it with high psi hp and torque all at once.

what size are your tires?

215? or 225?

u can run 225 if u wanted on the stock rims, more contact area to the ground

Hey man im on gm stage 2 now i see 14-15 psi when the temp is 50 degrees outside, I think you're over boosting coz ur cat is clogged, afterall u did run the stage 2 with out a flash for a while which means you were running rich pretty much which in turns cloggs the cat, convertor :x ....On a gm stage its not supposed to go up to 20psi...so look into that & This is just what i think so yeah !

well last night it was about 38 when i was hitting it. now it's about 50 and i was hitting about 16 earlier at like 6.5k rpms. u think i should run some seafoam through it? I already seafoamed the car about a month ago, but u think i should do it again?

this happens to me, but If I want traction I will not go WOT.. I have more hp than my stock clutch can shake a stick at. yes first gear is mainly used to get rolling and do burnouts

I'm sure your boost levels are fine man. When my car was stock I would see as much as 14psi on a 35-40*F day @ WOT. If it warms up and your car is still making around 17psi I would take a look at your cat.

i just romped on it real quick cause i had to run home to take care of my dogs and it never went over 15 so i think it's probably fine. i'll do half a seafoam treatment just to be safe.

idk what tires they are. I haven't even looked lol other than i know the fronts were bald when i got it and the backs were really good. the guy even said he had never rotated em so when i painted the calipers i rotated them.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say elevation means how fast i hit boost? I'd have to say it's probably boosting perfectly average. I really don't think anything is wrong whatsoever. I think i'm just needing to get used to the boost. extra boost that is lol.

lmao hell i have no clue. I live in greenfield indiana. easier to find just look at indianapolis indiana. it's like 15 miles from there. I wanted to get the gm one cause i was trying to stay more conservative. Eventually someday when i make real money i'll probably do something to cut boost with a custom tune along with other mods. but for now this stage 2 is still very very satisfying.
