when u start going with smaller pulleys is it the same theory as sprockets on street bikes where smaller means more top end but less bottom end.

i felt a little dead spot around 3500-4000 rpm with the 3.06 stage 2 pulley .... that was fixed once i installed the 2.99 stage 3 pulley. no more dead spots now

No.. you're making more boost at all times, so it will create more power across the board (if you ignore heat issues).

The pulley only affects the speed of the supercharger, not the gear ratio of the drive wheels (as is the case with your sprocket example)

if anything it will give you better low end and less top end, because of the more heat/less efficiency of the smaller pulley

You should get a power increase through the entire band. You may lose a little bit up top due to heat and parasitic loss on smaller pullies. If the car isn't tuned well for a smaller pulley you could notice a bit of lag in the lower rpms. Also, on the GM stage 1 and 2 tunes you sometimes notice "lag" in the lower RPMs due to the tune itself slowly ramping into PE.

i kno what you are talking about .... when i was only GM Stage 1, I never had any lag at the 3500-4000 rpm range. When I changed to the Stage 1 to Stage 2 upgrade kit (pulley, hub, belt, & same tune), I notice a slight lag in the lower rpms. Once i installed the GM Stage 3 76mm pulley, that lag went away and i now have a nice linear progression of power up to 7000 rpm.
