smallest pulley w/o cooling mods?
I'm looking into buying a stage kit, but I am reading so much about not getting a crazy small pulley ( <2.8). I have not seen a stage kit yet that comes with any cooling mods. Does this mean that you really don't need cooling, or that the kits simply DO NOT come with the cooling mods? What's the safest, smallest pulley to run without having to do anything "crazy" with my engine?
Thanks,
Nick

Alot of weather you need cooling mods has to do with your other supporting mods and how you drive, along with the actual weather where you live. If your not romping it hard all the time, it is temperate to cool, and you have something like a full free flowing exhaust, you can easily get away with a 2.8" pulley. If you run it up to redline all the time, drive really hard, the weather is hot as *****, and you don't have any flow mods, then with just the stage 2 pulley you'll get heatsoak.

I would say 2.9" is the smallest you should go without some form of additional cooling. These things just make too much heat once you get past 15 lbs. Heck... I've heard some say that the stock HE system isn't even good enough for stage 2.
All i have to say is that GM sells the dual pass with their stage 3 kit for a reason and thats a 2.99" pulley, but i'm sure they're just bein.g on the safe side. I know you can get away with a 2.9 and a 2.8, but like infinityZen expained, it depends on how you drive
Stock pully size = get cooling mods
I still have the stock pully and have a cobra h/e sitting in my garage ready to go on. I want to do the supporting mods first, so I will make sure the car runs cool before giving it more stress.

So whos the chicken **** person who neg repped me for my post! Look... when we had our dyno day here in KC a month or so ago, in 100 degree heat, we have a full GM Stage 3 car, and with the dual pass wasn't running any cooler than I was, or anyone else for that matter with no cooling mods, meth injection seems to help the most of any cooling mods I have seen and for less than 200 bucks it's a bargain as well!
i have logs to prove mdubs post being accurate.
if needed, i can go log the car again, vs his car, or a stage 2 car.
you can get over 250 fwhp out of the stage 2 pulley

For sure... watch out Hatrick you'll get neg repp'd in here because people don't like the truth... And just tyring to give some advice so people don't spend money on parts that are really unneccessary.... But it's okay!
