Some Intake Questions

ok ive seen the pics

ive seen the prices

but i dont see newhere the resaults

looking for some facts on how much hps these intakes give

also im prob going with the k&n intake just cause its real k&n filter.

does the k&n bolt right on to the SC or no any info on this be nice?

also all these intakes are cold air so what would happen if u driving in the rain and suck up some water?

there are things u can put in between the fliter and throtle body is this nessasary?

it will not suck up air unless the filter is submerged in water. performance depends on other mods to your car. my car stock w/ just the injen cold air intake dyno'd at 231hp. simple bolt on...there is a write up in the how-to section. if you search the forum, you'll find about 10,000 threads about cold air intakes.

I have the K&N CAI what else would u like to know my friend . Hope this helps.

I emailed K&N with a few questions myself.

Recently I bought a 69-4516TS CAI

1. How often should I check/clean my air filter?
2. If I choose to order a new filter for my 69-4516TS they are pre-oiled correct?
3. What is K&N's definition of Inclement weather it like a temp range, rain, snow, sleet?

i got a reply from K&N

1. The recommended cleaning time for the filter that you have is every 80,000-100,000 miles.
2. The filter that comes with the intake system is pre oiled and ready to install.
3. Inclement weather is defined as weather that would cause the filter to be submerged in water.

If your THAT worried about Hydrolocking the engine, buy a bypass valve from AEM and never have to worry about it again.

Otherwise, just use common sense and dont floor it through any lakes or ponds and it will be all good!

80K to 100K? that's when you should replace the filter. you should clean it every oil change for best performance. i had a K&N filter in my camaro and seriously felt a huge difference every time i cleaned it. the cleaning kit is like $10 at pep boys and you can get at least 4 cleanings out of it. definately worth the time and effort.

I'm pretty sure that the bypass is useless on any forced induction system, as it is forced open when the charger starts to suck the air.

I know I read somewhere that it was for NA applications only

I dont know if it has been a problem with the 06's, but I know a lot of folks with the 05's had a lot of problems with the K&N's throwing codes.

I dont think fittiment was an issue though.

There are hundreds if not more threads on CAI's. You can find more info on the codes that way.

I'd love to see the performance difference between the Air Box Mod and a CAI. Cause I honestly believe that a CAI for the SS/SC is a waste of money. Yay for Air Box Mod!
