Spark plugs for SS/SC...

Regular platinum spark plugs...

Can these be used in our cars considering they are F/I?

I checked with the dude at autozone, and he doesnt see a problem with them. Figured I would double check to make sure. I bought a set of Autolite double platinum spark plugs.

our cars come with platinum plugs, NGK PFR6T-10G platinum plugs
If you want to upgrade go to a copper or iridium, Personally I just installed NGK Iridium's today

Ive read a few places that Platinum plugs are not recommended for supercharged applications. We have them stock, is this why all the plugs ive seen afer like 10,000 miles all seem to be totally messed up and composited?

I know turbo's dont like the platinums and iridiums, but we run much higher boost and a lot more heat, if your worried get a excellent copper plug if your worried, I plan to data log the car over the next few days to see how the iridiums work out....
If you are running higher boost then def stay away from platinums and iri's

I run 22-24lbs in my stage 3r srt and my plugs are champion coppers gapped .035

thanks for the info. I went ahead and swapped out my spark plugs a few moments ago. My dad looked at them and said they where really fouled for only having 5500 miles on my car.... My bro has a Ion redline with all the same mods and twice as many miles and his still looked better then mine. I included a shot of his below since we swapped em today too.

heres mine next to my bro's.. Mine are on the right his are on the left.

heres what the engine looks like with the top off.

Also thought I would note that since changing the spark plugs the wierd accell problem I was having seems to have gone away. I am going to let my car sit overnight and try it again in the morning, but everything was silky smooth once I changed SP's...

My bad, I'm sorry you 2.0 guys can't use this system; but for the 2.2's it's a nice setup. Regardless, anyone can use the Silverstone plugs!!

Xenozx,

Those look terrible!
Is your car stock?
How did it idle? Could you feel the engine shake?
I ask because mine does after it warms up, and it didn't when new. I have just shy of 5k miles on it now.
Do you drive a lot in stop and go traffic?

In reality, the plugs in any modern FI car should run very clean, almost to the point that they should look like new after 5k miles. No matter what kind of driving you do.

Keep us posted on how the car runs with the new plugs.

I will check mine this weekend, and if they look like that, then I'll know something is wrong with the injection, and it will go in for service.

Ron

A little trick for spark plug install. Use your middle finger and pointing finger to pull on the bottom of the ratchet. You won't be able to over torque this way.
