Spec clutch question

I read on cobalt-addiction the differances between all the stages of the spec clutches. I am interested in either the stage 3 or the stage 3 plus. The stage three plus says for heavily modified street and race engines making more torque then the stage three can support. My question is....my engine is basically stock with a CAI and cold air intake, this clutch wouldn;t be too much for it would it?

bump for some answers

the stock clutch on the supercharged models is capable of handling up to 320hp/320lbs-ft. so unless you plan on pushing past that i would see no need to upgrade except to waste money honestly.

stick with a 2+ or even just a stage 1 if you want spec, or go for a centerforce df. for what you have its not worth sacrificing driveability and longevity with a 3+.

3+ is way to much for you. go 2+ at most

i just got the spec stg II kit installed. my guy actually told me i should go bigger with the mods i have, and am getting next month. the original clutch went out a couple weeks ago and after the upgrade to the stage II there was a serious difference. it was very touchy. i can imagine the 3 or 4 kits will be way worse. its all about what you want to do with your car...

the spec +3 has a rating of 350+hp and 350+tqr the stage 3 is only around 300-320, but the stage +3 is a little harder to push in that the stock clutch, but after driving it for about a few weeks you cant notice the differance, the stage 3 kit would be very touch, the differance with the +kits is there more street friendly but also have a high rating of hp and tqr, but everyone has there own opinion, i have the +3spec and i love it, and it was right for me im in the 350+-400 range...

Honestly you cannot go "to big" on the clutch kits. Between the spec stage 2 thru 3+ the clutch petal is the same.

Daily driving IMO is EASIER with the "+" series. "+" series have a full faced disc, where as the normal series have a "PUC" design, and ingage harder, however the full faced ("+") series hold more...

Which ever one you do decide to get, PM us we will price match and get you the best price. Just let us know the companys link to the product...

3+ should hold it fine, the 3+ holds more than the stage 4 we believe

forst off i think this might be true for some people but not all because i know some guys i mean a lot of guys whos clutches are going or have gone. So personally i say get the stage three it should be enough for any mod that you do even turbo i would say and look at a 6 puck

i have the spec stg 3. ive had it for only 30 thousand miles and its pretty much gone. i do mostly street driving. so my question is which clutch would last the longest stg1-stg5 and i dont plan on going past 300-350 whp

Considering you burned out a high end clutch in 30k miles, and probably the stock one in far less?

An automatic.

Stage 3+ would be the longest lasting IMO. It is a "full face disc" and has a lot more surface area.
