Specs on a stock 2006 cobalt ss?
New owner of a 2006 cobalt ss supercharged. Always owned a V8 but decided to go a different route. I was so close on purchasing an SRT4 but I accidently ran into a cobalt. I fell in love by its looks and handling, so I decided on the cobalt instead. Even tho I felt the srt4 was just a bit faster, overall it was the cobalt ss that impressed me the most. The cobalt ss is rated at 205 hp 14.9 quarter mile @ 99mph.. But it feels faster, no way this can be the real specs?

most dyno around 200hp at the wheels, so that translates to roughly 220-230 crank hp. now part of the reason your may feel like its got more power is it may have a gm stage 2 kit on it. check your blower pulley, if there are 4 bolts holding the pulley on its a gm stage 2 kit, if its a pressed on pulley its stock.
i chose the ss/sc over the srt4 as well. the srt4 is quicker, can be made faster easier and cheaper, however i found the balt handled better and was more comfortable. also not starting life as a neon helped.

Don't say that. I like my Balt unlike my hatred for cavy's.
To the OP: when I went through this site when I was buying mine, most dynos I saw of a stock LSJ was about 210-215 WHP(so like 230-240 crankish) And best stock 1/4 mile I found was 14.1
When I test drove my Balt the first thing I thought was that this feels a lot faster than what I was reading.

It is, whatever the figures are, a very powerful feeling car rightout of the box. the first night i had mine (stock form) i had to race my buddys 278 hp 350z from a 20 roll (because i couldn't launch yet lolz) and we were neck and neck the wholeway with me inching forward till about 100. blew both of our minds. power weight might have played a factor but you also arent expecting the torque it puts out on regular drives for a four cyl.

The srt was a little bit more than just a base neon with a turbo, agree that the cavalier has nothing really in common with the cobalt platform other than same family of engines. Close to stock srts are still pretty cool imo, I dont like the front bumper mods, aftermarket tail lights, wing deletes, aftermarket wheels for the most part. I think 99% of the people who got one ruined the decent looks they had from the factory.
I was really close to ending up with the srt but im glad I didnt, more maintenance for little to no extra performance. It would have cost me $2,000 more to get the srt as well. Not that it would have mattered, the clutch went out in the cobalt and cost me about that much because of my impatience and letting the dealer install a stock one.
I still think the base price I paid of $6,500 for an 06 g85 recaro ss with about 43k miles (07/11) was pretty good even through its salvaged with a poor paint job, its yellow anyways so the paint didnt matter to me. I get compliments on it everyday delivering pizza even after changing the wing with a base model wing lol

They are def quicker then you think. For every car, I start with the exhaust (header/downpipe/catback). You will gain nice power and sound. Then ZZP Stage 2 kit with a 3" intake. You'll be moving nicely then!

With just a ZZP CAI I dyno'd 237 whp and 211 tq.
GM definitively underrated them.

Pull out your dipstick and place the tip on the brass bushing that is on the top of the bypass butterfly shaft. Work the oil in by actuating the buterfly shaft by hand. When it hangs open you only get 5 psi.

This has nothing to do with your car. Why bump it?
You've posted a bunch asking the same question with terrible info. We can't solve this for you over the internet especially if you post in 20 different places.
