SS/SC Air cleaner

I got bored today and I took apart the wheel shroud and got a good look at the air cleaner.

Here is a link to some pictures. I took. It picks up the air just behind the front drive side head light assembly.

I also installed some Silver Star bulbs while I was at it.

wait a sec, while all thats out, you should of put a K&N in, is that where the filter goes, right next to the wheel there in that box

Yep it looks like you can unbolt the botton and put in a K&N. However I am just going to wait and get a whole CAI system. It's all back together now. Maybe took me 1 hour to pull apart and 30 minutes to put back together.

man....that looks just like a typical chevy air intake. I agree, get the CAI and loose 15-20 lbs when you get rid of the air intake

zinner, post a pic of the SilverStars at night. I'd like to see how they show with the Cobalt's front headlight assembly.

Thanks for the shots Zinner. Have you thought about giving those calipers a nice paint to match the body color. Does anyone know if you can pick the matching paint yet?

Find the paint code and get a spray can made. It'll match perfectly.

Zinner: do you have to remove the bumper to take the headlights out?

No you don't have to remove the front bumper. However you have to push the bumper down a bit to get the edge of the headlight assembly out. The manual gives a verbal discription how to do it, it's a pain in the butt. My S10 you didn't even need tools to replace the bulbs, cobalt you need a 10 mm socket wrench and some elbow grease.

Thats right I said millimeter. It appears the cobalt is using metric fasteners.

All I needed was a 10 and 7 mm socket to get it all apart save the wheel lug nuts. Also needed a flat head screw drive to get out some plastic pop rivets.

ya dont you love that all cars are metric now
except like when adjusting the tie rods and other stuff
but as far as like the panels, interior, brackets, mounts etc it is always like a 10mm, a 14mm, or a 17mm wrench.
