Ive installed my K&N yesterday and still havent gotten a CEL. It seem ( this is just in my experience ) when u dont disconnect the battery you might get a CEL but when i did mine i followed the directions K&N sent and the first thing they tell you is disconnect the battery. I guess it has something to do with the computer freaking out.

I have a K&N CAI and it sounds great! Very easy to install (with exception of the wheel well splash guard lol) and it looks good. With my stage 2 and CAI and my muffler, I get all kinds of compliments. I don't really street race all that often but since stage 2 I have beaten:

2005/6 Lexus GS
199? big body Impala SS with mods

More kills to come once I head over to the Norwalk Raceway.

I was just asking my dad about going down to Norwalk. I live in Canton and my dad lives in Akron. Do you have to be 18 to race there? I'm 17 now.

I just got my cobalt ss the other day and i was looking for a good intake for it. Does anyone have a good idea what works good with these cars, and what is this CEL thing that everyone is talking about with the intakes.

K&N intake changes the air flow characteristics enough to throw off the MAF readings.

lol... If you don't care about price then you should get a corsa sport. IMO.. But you have $350 to spend therefore different arrangements must be made. You better get some more money together or go the flowmaster route.

thk....

Aem does not make a short air intake for the Cobalt or Ion redlin becuase the short ram made more power.
