Not sure about a "stage 5." But I did hear a rumor about a stage 3.

It looks like stage 1 by itself (no pulley) doesn't give much of a real gain in performance, but it definitely sets you up to take advantage of the pulley in stage 2.

My question is this...

Doesn't stage 2 use a 3.0" pulley, or did I hear that from a bad source? If GM is shaving 0.7 seconds off of the 1/4 mile time with a 3.0" pulley, just imagine what would happen with a 2.8" pulley. We're talking about possibly shaving a whole second off if you can hook it up right. If you can run a 14.5 in a stock SS/SC, then get stage 1 and a 2.8" pulley and you're gonna be running a 13.5 or so, which will put you in the same league as a Camaro SS, new Mustang GT, GTO, SRT-8, etc. Just imagine the look on the face of guys driving those cars when they can't outrun a Cobalt that's only had a grand or so spent on upgrades! I can't wait...

In the Pics there are part numbers for:

Stage 1,
Stage 2,
and Stage 1 to 2.

The P/N for 1-2 is under the PN for Stage 2.

also did u guys see that it says something about like 30+ peak power for s1 and s2, would that mean that if u get s1 u get 30+peak power then u upgrade to s2 and get ANOTHER 30+power?????

im thinkin it's either u get s1 or s2 and both will give 30+ peak power.

As of right now all part numbers are inactive.

Looks like these kits will be well worth the wait, now will will just have to see if they will be well worth the price?

Did anyone else notice that both sets of hp/tq numbers listed are over stock. This means that the stage 2 only gives 5hp and 13 lb-ft over stage 1. Seems kinda weird to me.

Stage 1's HP increase is going to be from the increase of redline RPM's. The larger increase in torque from Stage 2, will be from the smaller pulley increasing boost.

Yeah but that's a piggyback system. The stage kits from GM are ECU reflashes which is a warrantable upgrade.

Also, my understanding is Stage 1 will be priced according to that stand alone upgrade. Stage 2 builds off of Stage 1 so that will INCLUDE all upgrades under Stage 1 and then will add the pully upgrade and reflash again. So, yes, one can opt to go directly to Stage 2 and I think this will be the same for subsequent stages going forward. I am ALSO a firm believer that Stage 3 exists however I think GM is having some testing issues which may be why it wasn't launched at SEMA. Stage 3 should be close to their concept car of 272 hp since it's only 21 more hp than the current Stage 2 that will be made available in Q1 2006.

There are actually THREE part numbers!
17801947 for Stage 1
17803229 for Stage 2 (includes all of stage 1)
17803230 for upgrading Stage 1 to Stage 2 (so it can be done at a later time)

So is the ECU reflash is stage 2 going to be different from the the reflash in stage 1? I think I would probably want stage 1 and then get my own pulley (as small as possible) if the ECU is the same.

It sounds like the flash is the same as stage 1. So I would be doing the same thing you are, buying stage 1 and adding my own pulley.
