stage 2 hp?

When gm rates the stage 2 is it based off their 205hp rating or the actual 215-220? In other words when it says that it boost the engine from 205 too 246, are you really only getting around 26 extra hp because the engine is underated in the first place?

Very good question.

You're a thinker!

So if I understand you correctly then, you are saying that Stage 2's dyno 250-255hp.

Right?

Theoretically, yes.. since 215 + 40 = 255hp

Anyone have stage 2 dyno numbers to compare?

I didn't search every single post relating to the word "dyno" (there's way too many!), but I found this thread pretty interesting:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...highlight=dyno

Modified Mag did a test where they got an additional 24hp with Stage 2 installed.

So if the Stage 2 kit makes 241hp, then our car's REAL stock hp numbers are 217hp.

12hp more than the 205hp Chevy claimed.

Makes sense ...

The 241 HP is crank HP, not wheel HP. on a dyno you would typically expect to run about 220 to maybe 230 wheel HP on a dyno with just stage 2 and no other mods (you can't dyno crank HP numbers unless you are going to pull the motor). If Modified Mag claim they got a 24 HP increase that would be at the wheels, then they probably gained about 29 HP at the crank. Everything is relative; each car is different and every dyno is different.
