Stage 3...?
Stage 3...?
This may be a repost i dont really no. But i was looking at the stage 3 kit...and was wondering do you have to run it on 100 octane? i dont understand why...and can i buy ecu seperately...what will it do? i dont really no to much about engines and performance things like that so i was hoping you guys and girls can help...
i assume this means GM stage 3
ok. stage 3 is a nitrous ready setup with the stage 2 tune on it. it disables the a/c (a/c robs power) and other than it being ready for a 50 shot (not included) isn't much different than stage 2. I say get stage 2 and keep the air conditioning. you can always add a bottle later.
P.S. stage 3 voids warranty, and has been deemed for "off road use only"
IDK about the octane rating. but stage 3 sucks.

maybe a few horses, but that money would be better spent on a 50shot, and maybe a 2.9" pulley.
the 2.9" pulley itself is only $50 and good for probably 15whp over stage 2
nitrous is probably between $400-$500 and good for between 35-75 whp depending on how you set it up

100 Oct is a mode U can run the car in. It needs to be set like that while U are running it tho.
The A/C is only disabled in the 100 oct mode.
It give U a few more HP with out being in nitrous mode or 100 oct mode.
And it also lets U set your rev limit.

You dont need to run 100 octane with stage 3. If you do choose to run 100 octane it will give you more timing and thus more power.
It is not a stage 2 tune. It is a different tune that can compensate for 100 octane and a 50 shot of nitrous.
Also, the A/C is disabled in every LSJ after 95% throttle. The a/c is completely disabled in stage 3 to make it even more of an "off-road" box, not to increase power.

get the stage 3 pulley.
have the ecm tweaked. it will make more power this way.
you can also have a "100 octane map" made. but the thing is, you can't switch back and forth unless you tuned it yourself, and have access to the lap top to do so.

They ARE NOT THE SAME TUNE!!!!!!!! Explain to me why my 3.06 stage 2 pulled 15.5 PSI and yet with my 2.99 my stage 3 is pulling 17.5 PSI? and don't give me the ...your cat is plugged crap either.
Your A/C is gone the entire time you have you Stage 3 PCM in the car...but just swap it out with your stage 2 PCM if you want A/C.
And for who ever said it sucks...you make a bold statement for not having it...
I mean yeah...I feel like I got robbed with my stage 3...I'm only putting out well above 300whp.

I have already had guys pm me for my dealerships number and have talked to them who can vouch for me on the fact they warranty my car.
IDK
